To those based in Scotland, or better still the Tayside area, can you recommend a good company to install an electric charger at home in my garage? Is there a go-to company for these up our way?

My local electrician installs them but he seems to be mega busy and I have my doubts he’ll be able to fit me in by the time I get the car. Not even had a price from him yet.

Thanks in advance!

Try your electricity supplier. At least they'll give you an idea of price.

FWIW I got my charge point supplied by BumblebeeEV, and they arranged the installation. (It wasn't them who installed - it was one of their approved installers/electrician companies).

BumblebeeEV operate throughout Scotland AFAIK.

@Shengis If you’re still looking for a home charger installer, this company just did mine and I can highly recommend them. They’re based in Dunfermline.

Cheers for that. What sort of lead time are they on?

I’m still waiting on my local guy coming back to me and I also got a quote from ChargedEV but concerned they won’t go up through the loft with the cabling and I’ll end up with a rubbish looking exposed cable somewhere.

I’ll get in touch with these guys. ??

@Shengis From my initial inquiry email to installation it took eleven days to have my Zappi set up. My fuse box and main incoming fuse is in a cupboard under the stairs and shares a wall with the garage on the other side, so the installer drilled a hole through that wall and ran the cable along the skirting board of the garage and up and around the top of the garage door to the other side. Another hole was drilled there to the outside of the house to connect the cable with the Zappi.

I’m sure if you explained your requirements they’d get back to you about the feasibility and costs for materials. You might need more or less cabling than I for example. As the cable ran around the garage I wasn’t fussed about it showing.

Anyway, I’m enjoying looking at the myenergi app which details how much energy my home is drawing from the grid. Once I have the MG4 and solar installed, it will be even more beneficial. The Zappi has a lock code to stop anyone tampering or using it without my permission, so that gives me extra peace of mind.

In the other photo you can see the extra fuse box that was installed and a myenergi Harvi module that communicates via radio frequency with the Zappi to monitor grid, solar and battery storage usage when installed. The whole installation took about four hours, but probably would have been quicker if I hadn’t chatted so much. ?

That’s pretty quick! Cheers for that! ??

Must have seen your car last week, saw orange 4 through in the workshops when I was in the showroom

More than likely mine as it was available last week but couldnt get the time to collect till this week.
Theyve also got an orange demo now too.

Solar, battery & inverter and zappi due to be installed next week. Eddi PV diverter being added early next year (availability). No Harvi offered which I find a wee bit surprising.

Yeah went into see the trophy as they didn't have one when I ordered mine

That sounds like a good system Rip Van, but I would recommend getting the Harvi as it offers wireless sensing of your energy usage: Energy Harvesting Wireless Sensor | myenergi UK

If you don’t mind my asking what sort of setup will you be getting in terms of solar wattage, battery and inverter size? I’m in the process of getting quotes for two different systems, one an east west configuration which is cheaper and a larger east, south and west system.

The estimated delivery date is at the end of January. I‘ve ordered a white SE long range. How about yourself Shengis?
Quite a few on here getting cars from Perth! That meet that was talked about could be at the Starbucks, next to the dealership, when our cars are all in getting fixed?

I’ve got a white SE standard range ordered. The latest I was told was mid-December which is a couple of weeks back from original estimated date given as that would make it 10 weeks from order instead of 8.

However the dealer said they are hopeful of receiving a further allocation before that and if there’s one with my spec on it, it should be mine.

I’m eager to get it but at the same time I’ve obviously not arranged my home charging point yet plus I’ve got a smart meter installation booked in for mid-December as well so if the car comes round about then it should work out fine.
