I plan to install a led strip across the bonnet with indicator flash, Can anyone help with the identification of the indicator wire going into the headlight assembly, or how to disconnect the plug without breaking the clip. i could then use a tester on it. attached is the type of plug which connects to the headlight assembly. I have the MG ZS Trophy Connect, the plugs seem to be the same across most of the MG's. the light strip I have has to be connected to each indicator wire to work

I haven't started yet as i need to know which wire is used by the flicker unit, or at least disconnect the plug without damaging it. this is the strip i want to install. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0D6R24L6Q?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
yes, that would look nice but with these modern cars, I never know what's connected where ...

one thing that crosses my mind is whether MG service people would make a fuss about it and whether it would count as unreported "modification" for insurance - you know how they are when they need to pay out ...

Using a very thin pin, can you not carefully "back probe" the back of the cables ( one by one ) with a 12 volt test light attached, to identify the type of feed cable you are trying to locate ?.
This will at least avoid trying to spilt the loom via the plug, which could possibly cause the car to throw up some fault codes that may be difficult to remove ?.

Thanks, I will solder a wire to a needle, connect it to a multimeter and identify the wires with no power, then turn on indicators and retest the wire with power will then be the one to use, I can then confirm with the hazards on. The same wire should test live. Once I identify the wire I will need to figure out how to connect to it without splicing or damaging the original wire, perhaps another needle soldered wire secured in the back of the plug
