Just interested to see if the owners here are new to EVs or EV converts changing up from other cars.

The MG4 is attractive on price and spec, it seems to be a good jump point into the world of EVs, as well as a great upgrade.

Whats your EV History...

Our EV Journey started in 2015, and as high mileage drivers (45 to 50k miles a year we normally change car at least every 12 months to keep the depreciation costs minimal).

2015 BMW i3 Rex 19Kw
2016 BMW i3 BEV 19Kw
2017 Renault Zoe 40Kw
2018 Hyundai Kona 64Kw
2019 Hyundai Kona 64Kw
2020 Tesla Model 3 SR 50Kw
2021 Hyundai Kona 64Kw
2021 Kia EV6 77Kw
2022 MG4 Trophy 61Kw

Previously had a VW Golf GTI mk7.
Was going to an ID3 but got delayed quite a few times, ordered Oct 21, originally due Mar 22, latest update prior to cancellation was Jul 23.
Glad it was delayed and ended up with the MG4 ?.

Previously had an old Kia Rio diesel which had done over 180,000 miles.
Bought a MG4 SE LR.
The Kia had been very reliable over the 10 years of ownership, but was very tired by the time I'd replaced it. I've had niggles with the infotainment screen and Ismart app but generally I'm very pleased with the MG4. It's light years ahead of the old Rio in terms of technolgy and drive. It's the the 1st brand new car I've ever owned and I'm still twitchy about long term reliability. Economy using octopus go is excellent, but if I'm honest it was a heart purchase to reduce my CO2 footprint rather than purely economic.

Ordered an orange trophy end of september, told Janaury so hopefully picking up soon.
Trading in my 2016 Golf R estate. I am going to miss it terribly I'm sure. The power and acceration is awesome and love leaving the young ones in their little Fiesta ST's in the dust in the traffic light drag races ;) Great practical car being an estate as well.
Been thinking about moving to an EV for a while. Looking at the savings in petrol & tax (until 2025) & concious about doing my little bit to help the planet for my 1 year old daughter. MG4 made it more attainable price wise and more interesting looks wise for me. I've done my research but I'm still a little hesitant/ nervous about how it's going to work out but hopefully it will be a good experience.

Played with a Volvo XC40 PHEV for a year. The wife and I both liked the instant response from pulling away while on electric. As it only had a 10.4kW battery and range from 16 - 24 miles (Winter/Summer) it was not really cost efficent. However did get free home charger installed by Volvo and made us go all EV when the MG4 ticked all the boxes in price and range!
Had Trophy since end of October and we both love driving it!

My last several cars (Astra SRi estate, Golf GT, Insignia Grandsport) have all been diesel company cars. Before that I had Nova 1.3l (first car), Escort 1.6l, Corsa 1.2l and then a C3 1.4l - all petrol. I am taking early retirement as of next Friday ( \o/ ) so I returned my company Insignia and looked for a new car. I already had a Wallbox (supplied as part of the aborted Volvo V60 PHEV company car order) so going for an EV seemed a good idea.

That's how I found the MG4 - it had the specification level that I found acceptable, at a price point I found more than acceptable, given this is the first new car I've bought since the Escort. :)

Yes with octopus go it makes very cheap driving we are still on 5.5p a Kwh till 20.30 to 01.30 til May 23, really starting to get a bit squeaky about how expensive its going to be after that.

I still work in Central London 2 or 3 days a week, so EV is the only way to make it viable, I am normally there for 10 to 12 hours on days I am in, Parking would be over £80 a day in a Diesel. On top of the congestion charge and fuel to get there. So the car pays for itself just with those savings and the discounted parking. Rest of week Vicky is working all over the UK, so our car is paid for from fuel and other savings within a year really

Last few cars Mazda rx8 231 black, new Toyota GT86 burned orange, new Gt86 upgrade metallic silver, new gt86 blue edition performance pack, (voluntary redundancy/retired) sold wife’s Citroen c3 and my gt86 bought a VW iD3 pro performance turquoise metallic then 2 yrs on traded it in for more than I paid for it and came home with mg4 trophy orange about 6 weeks ago. Just been to Edinburgh and back 6hr each way 2 charges and it was faultless.

The MG4 had not really been on my radar as a next car.. Had looked at the LR ZS at the time we got the EV6 but the waits were long and indeterminate.

My Next Door Neighbour wanted to get his first EV so I mentioned the MG4 to him, next day took him to place deposit, 4 weeks later Oct he got the car. I had to set it all up for him etc, had a couple of drives in and was hooked. Dealer posted on Facebook he had an Orange one arriving in 3 weeks, phoned up placed deposit and picked it up 4 weeks later.

So far the plan is to keep it a year and see how it goes, doubt we will keep it much longer but will start to evaluate options for next car when this one starts to get to 8 or 9 months old

Orange "Best Colour" I am biased tho ;-)

Paint is a tough one to match tho.. We got hit by a ratchet strap that flew up on the M1 and hit our back Qtr..

Our Local Bodyshop are great but they said the paint was a mare to match, but they did a great job

I am on GO until Sept 2023....7.5p between 00:30 to 04:30.
Never need to charge outside those hours as my mileage/day average around 40 miles.
Saving a lot of money compared to driving my previous 'Diesel car' (Merc GLC)...happy days!

At the moment we have a Corsa e which we bought as a second car but then just used it as the primary car as we just loved the way it drove, all this b********t about poor handling and poor suspension of EV's is rubbish, we just did not use our Kia Proceed, in fact after 3 months and only doing 50 miles in it we sold it. But there is always a but, the app is useless & slow and at one point it registered kilometers after charging instead of miles and we managed to get home with 2 miles left.
It is supposed to have a range of 210 miles, which in fairness in the summer it achieved, I appreciate that the winter mileage is dramaticaly reduced for all ev's, but it is still not quite enough. Having being used to a slightly larger car we decided to to look at the MG4 and have ordered one for delivery in March assuming that the factory's don't get shut down due to Covid.

Similar to you we bought our first EV BMW i3 as a second car for local jobs with no intention of using it for long runs as we had a Volvo v40 for that

But the EV just drove so well and was so many leagues above the V40 within weeks it became the main car and the V40 was sold

As for range we have the Trophy and I get 220 out of a charge in winter weather Vicky drives a little more carefully than me and she is getting 230 to 240. So in summer I reckon it will easily hits its rated range
