Hi everyone,

I recently got my MG Cyberster in Singapore and was wondering if there's a way to bring the convertible roof down using the key fob, like many other convertibles that have this function. I asked the sales representative here in singapore, but he said this feature isn’t available, I call bullshit cause it suppose to be standard on all cars with a convertible roof unless MG really fudgeed this up for something this basic.

Has anyone found a way to enable this function on the Cyberster? Would I need to install a mod like Mod4Cars.com or is there another method to do it with the key fob?

Would appreciate any insights from fellow owners who might have explored this!

Thanks in advance.

Let's hope they'll add a software update for this? Keeping the MG logo pressed, for example, could work for me. A button on the app would also be practical.

I added this to my A4 Convertible just after I bought it new back in 2007. I had to take out the back seat + some of the trim and then add a small box allowing me to open/close the roof remotely using the OEM key fob. Hopefully someone will provide something similar to the Cyberster (if not provided via an OTA update).

I have a company here from which I bought and installed such a module for my Mercedes SL350. It may still be a bit early for the Cyberster, but if lots of people ask, I'm sure they'll come up with a solution!

Yes its a bit early for a module. Hopefully its coming. All this stuff was requested preproduction but MG decided to leave some features out. Having a car in Singapore, is like buying 2 Cybersters over here I heard.

A module that auto folds mirrors and closes/opens the roof would be cool. Can be Fixed with a software update. Not holding my breath though.

I agree, holding the MG button down should be programmed to do it, It closes the windows, so why not also the roof? It is a pain having to get back in to close the roof, If I have already exited the car to plug it into a charger, and intend to leave it for a while to charge up.

I emailed these people I used before on BMW convertibles but no reply. Perhaps others might add their requests to them as they clearly know what they are doing
I did get a reply in the end from them ….
“Hi John,

It's quite an interesting car!

Would you be interested to visit us in Vegas to have a lookt at it?

If you require any further information, feel free to contact me

Best Regards, Sven Tornow”

Unfortunately I won’t be passing Vegas any time soon in mine!

I was about to say they are an American based company. If youre in the UK there will be a few companies that do similar. Can enquire with these companies. Be careful as any interference with onboard system may void your warranty.

I’ve sent this company an enquiry re whether any chance to develop an after market mod. Let’s see what they say - not holding my breath…

They say they don’t have anything nor it seems any plans to even think about it unless someone comes up with a module they can install. Perhaps other enquiries to them from other owners might stimulate some interest but it doesn’t look that hopeful- ideally an MG s/w update would do it of course!
