My last 3 charging sessions with intelligent Octopus, what do we think guys

I couldn’t have intelligent so have gone for another ev tariff. Charger is new but unsupported. It is very satisfying seeing the costs.

Managed to get solar installed too - it’s great to see the graphs of where usage (during peak rate) falls to zero. Love it

I'm currently sobbing over all the free kWh I'm donating to the grid because my G99 hasn't come through yet. Over £10 a week, and that's with me putting as much of it into the car as I can and running the washing machine and so on. First world problems.

Same situation here waiting for the G98. Not charging the car with it as I don’t have the ct clamp on my charger however ….. the panels run the heat pump dryer quite nicely - deffo worth getting one (had it since 2018).

Similar to us 13 or so months ago waiting to get all the paperwork over to Octopus.

Seemed like ages at the time, but now it seems like a long time ago.

The consolations are:
1. The system is working and providing your power. As far as I'm concerned the export payments are an unexpected bonus, which I will enjoy while they last.
2. You've got an EV to take some of it. We didn't!
3. Your electrons - whether you get paid or not - are reducing the amount of gas being burned for electricity.
4. Waiting for paperwork to be sorted was always going to be part of the process, it just doesn't really come to mind when ordering the system and no one ever mentions it!

Hopefully Octopus will integrate with more and more chargers.

We got the Givenergy charger which is relatively new, so hoping they sort that integration before the winter so we can qualify for IOG. Otherwise will be on an "unintelligent" EV tariff.

I got really obsessed with the solar stats graph on the Givenergy app. Fascinating stuff (though the wife does not seem to agree).

In honesty I’m not overly bothered about integrating (it’ll never happen with mine as I have a weird one vchrgd7).

With none intelligent deals out there, there isn’t a huge benefit my off peak is 7.9p but only for 5 hours which is still plenty with my usage. Some on eon get 6.9p though I found their day rate 2p higher.

Eon off peak of 6.9p is for 7 hours vs 5.

I forgot to mention that. Either way their day rate is 2p higher so I can’t really make it work or worth the pain of swapping for me personally. Just had dimplex heaters in which opens up another BG tariff that is basically economy 7 which bumps the rate up to near 9p off peak.

I'm in the lucky position that I only consume 0.5kWh during the day due to my home battery system that I charge off peak every night. The extra 2 hours gives me the chance to do laundry and use the dishwaher off peak in the morning which reduces the demand on the home battery.

That’s some going to get the day down that much! I have someone here 24/7 who is disabled. Fridge freezer and freezer, cctv system(s), tropical fish tanks and other half works from home in converted shed (heating there is diesel) in an all electric house. Realistic total without car is shy of 20kWh / immersion heater is the wrong thing considering we have electric power shower but can’t justify the large changes/cost to swap. New solar in has been great (2 weeks in, no battery). Drawing around 10 from grid.

Swapping to an EV tariff alone dropped it from costing £10/day to around £6 (without charging the car) thanks to load shifting. Brilliant excuse to have a dishwasher too. Solar covers a lot of background at the moment so down to around £3. Winter will expect to be higher. Whilst the high usage isn’t really down - the cost is. I can’t really do much more economically.
