Hi everyone,

I noticed something odd with the indicators on my MG3 Luxury. The sound of the indicator click is never in sync with the flashing of the lights on the outside. On top of that, the indicator sound sometimes disappears entirely, especially if another warning sound (like the speed warning) plays in between.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s quite distracting, especially when you’re used to a more consistent experience in other cars. Just curious if this is a common quirk of the MG3 or something I should have checked.

Older cars used to have a 'Flasher Unit' to turn the indicators on and off, this was basically a small electrical relay which you could hear clicking as it turned on and off. Modern cars, and especially cars with led indicators don't need a relay to operate the indicators, therefore the sound is computer generated so that we can hear a clicking as the indicator operates, this is how we're able to adjust the volume of the indicator click. That being said, I hadn't noticed the sound being out of sync with the flash.

I've mentioned a few times to the wife either no clicking or irregular usually with the reply "do you think I'm interested".
I thought it was still relay driven and was starting to think the indicators might not be working.

Well, at least I’m glad that it seems to be normal and I’m not the only one with this issue. But it really can’t be that hard to fix this via software so that it syncs with the external indicators. It’s a bit embarrassing, regardless of the manufacturer or model, this just shouldn’t happen.
