Hello all
I'm Christos and with my wife we bought a new MG4 LR Luxury, on December 11.
The past weekend I took the car on a road trip from Athens to Pilio, a mountain in central-east, mainland Greece, 370km total each way.
I borrowed an MG slow charger from the dealer and charged the night before to 90%. Normal highway speeds for me would be an average of 115km/h on the highway ranging between 100 and 125 in the trip also includes a small segment of flat peripheral roads and finally going up the mainland side of the mountain and back down on the seaside slopes - so a full mix of driving.
The first segment on the highway I did not enjoy because of all the new electronics and gadgets and the anxiety of range I stopped twice on the highway to check that there are charging stations along the route and how they work and left the highway with 200 km range to go into an area that has no charging options except wall sockets.
The winding peripheral roads and the mountain roads were a blast! : excellent turning, lively response and the energy recovery acts very much like downshifting in an enjoyable and intuitive way.
I charged from a wall socket when there and ran around for business for a couple of days, enjoying each and every outing.
On the return trip I took notes of the energy consumption:
Uphill from elevation 400 to 1400 m above sea level for about 20 km, battery went from 100% to 90%.
Downhill from 1400 to 100 above sea level , 25km, battery reclaimed energy to 94%.
I recharged at a fast DC charger having run a total of 330 km with about 50km left in the battery - solar charger, free! while snacking.
I could have probably made it home, 370km, but it was close and the car is new.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed. More derails on separate post.
In Athens we paid €38 500, during a promo sale period, including a light colour theme interior and silver grey exterior, as extras. With the €9000 subsidy for evs, it will cost €29 500 after the return.
Merry Christmas!
