I think the preheat checks cp/pp signalling to check if charging is active before using battery power. When plugged in it must be seeing the signalling as non active and errors instead of using battery power..all theory. When an active charge is discovered life is hunky dory

This is exactly the problem the Kia EV6 had took them a year to fix it, and even then there are were issues.. Nobody had Cabin Pre Heating for the first year, which was a real pain..

I am shuddering to think what its going to be when mine goes up.. Luckily have 5p at Night and 13.5p during day till End of April 2023

Yep.. Luckily I top the car up at night and run the house from it during the day with it when home

So its only the night rates that really concern me,.. But have a feeling that could be 15p by the time the end of April comes around.

Use 800w IR Panels for heating so not had the gas on (Apart from Baths this year)

800w Panel in downstairs room keeps them at a good temp when home

Looking at getting a small Home battery system to just cover the base load when out so will be 24/7 on cheap rate then.

I thought about that but just wondering how long before I save enough to cover the cost of the battery?

Yeah thats the problem a 10Kw home battery and inverter is a £6k gamble if the cheap rates to charge it dissapear.

if you already have ev panels you should have the inverter, I have panels and get FIT payment on 50% generated, so I did some investigation and found I could have battery added but a decent battery would be in excess of £6k for battery and fitting .

Roof not suitable for panels, can only have a temp ground mount setup, so no current inverter and no FIT
