iSmart not working for Android users (apparently)

Well.....it worked for me for 24 hours. Then I had an email from MG to say they had closed my account and opened another so all should be good to sign in. Except it isn't, now the app is asking me to activate the digital key but it won't accept my security code. 'The remote control failed try again later'. Back to square one.

MG did a reset on my account which then allowed me to enter my four digit key, all ok for the moment!

Since I received my car on Monday I've not been able to get the iSmart app to work. The dealer is saying there is a nationwide issue where it isn't working for Android users and might not be fixed for a couple of weeks.

Can I just confirm that other Android users are having issues?

To clarify, the app works but won't show any car details once bound to the car.

I picked up my new Xpower today but could not get the app to bind to my Samsung S10+ at the showroom. Drove home and did the following. Deleted my account. Re-registered using my phone number minus the first 0, cleared the cache tried re-binding by scanning the app and glad to say its all working now. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Need to investigate the sensitive tyre monitoring now. LOL.

try refreshing the app by pulling down with your finger from top to bottom of the phone screen. (assuming it's connected/bound to your car).

I've done that. This is what it is showing me.

I was not able to bind my Android to the car. My wife did it on her I phone. I then just logged in on my android. This was in Sept 2022. We can both still log in and use it. NB - not at the same time as only one phone can be logged in at any one time.

I've done that. This is what it is showing me.

at the top of the screen it says last updated yesterday at 17:35 so it seems it's working but not all the time? that happens occasionally and I don't know why but guess it also depends on the signal strength ...

I picked up my MG ZS hybrid + yesterday and it would not scan the QR code on the dash infotainment system with my pixel 7 phone running android 15,
My wife's pixel 7a would also not scan.

I came home and tried it with my old one plus (5) phone running a snapdragon processor and Android 10.
This worked first time.
I then logged back into my pixel 7 MGi app and filled in my details including the 4 digit code I selected when I registered my account.
All working normally.

I can only assume that there is a problem with the scanning process on the pixel 7's with either the chipset or the Android version, once bound to the car (via my one plus 5 ) you do not need to scan the QR code again and the app runs as normal.

It also scanned first time on the salesman's iphone.

My next problem is trying to get a Thule foot to fit the roof rails for.my Thule bike rack.

Thule dont list the new ZS hybrid +.

They only list the previous model which has rails with the gap between the body and lower part of the rail.

Not sure if this will fit.

Just to add on Android 15 subject, although it's not related to scanning QR code - my phone just updated to Android 15 and MG iSmart connected to my ZS much faster than before... might be just because it's sunny today or might be that it really works better/faster with Android 15 ....
