Hi All, I've noticed a knocking noise coming from the rear of the car. It's hard to pinpoint exactly where it's coming from but it happens when going over bumps or quickly steering left and right.

I have removed everything from the boot of the car (including puncture kit and foam), the parcel shelf tray and folded the rear seats down and it still happens. I took it to the dealership to have a look as I am concerned something has come loose in the undercarriage but they told me they couldn't find any problems. I've got a feeling it could be the rear shockers.

Does anyone have this problem or are aware of any recalls? If not, I might have to take it to the dealer and go for a drive with them in the car to replicate the noise.

It was the boot catch for me too leading to movement in the boot lid when closed. Easy to adjust using the black rubber stops on the boot - they just screw in and out by hand.

Just checked mine, i dont have the knock but it seems the exhaust has fallen off, which offcourse would have solved it, if it was indeed knocking.
That theory sounds like a lot of hot air to me ;)

There have been a few reports of ZS EV's suffering from broken coil springs on the rear, these have been replaced under warranty if I recall correctly.
If the spring fractures at the very bottom section, inside the receiving cup that locates the spring, it can be easy to miss it at a quick glance.

Have you looked at the rear springs? I’ve just had the second one go on my MGZS TROPHY. This one replaced without quibble under warranty. Known fault with a batch of 72 plate cars.

MY MG4 has the same problem with the Knocking noises when I turn in or out of a drive way so I will try and adjust the rubber boot stoppers as suggested.

I recall seeing someone on an Isuzu D-Max forum use a GoPro camera mounted under the car to find a knock in his suspension. Maybe you could try doing the same thing
Got under the car and ran my fingers along the springs. Don't seem to be any cracks.

I have had a look at the rubber stops on the tailgate. They are not adjustable. The ones I am looking at are attached to the tailgate. There aren't any other boot stops that I can see.

Where are the adjustable boot stops?
