Just a thought, if you had a secure place to park, what detrimental effect would leaving the car switched on permanently have ?
I know when you get out of the car it comes out of ready mode, so the car can't be driven without the key.
The car maintains the 12v when in this state.
Just thinking, if you did this, all the settings (E.g. LKA off etc.) would be still the same when you get back in, or would they ?
I guess it might discharge the HV slowly, anything else ?

I thought it was driveable without the key once it had been in Reaaady mode until it was powered down.
No, if you leave the car (get out of the seat) it drops out of Ready mode. If you get back in with the key it goes back in, only if you press the brake, if you get back in without the key it says, "key not detected" when you press the brake.

My car is at the workshop to sort out a minor dent in the rear bumper. I was worried they would leave the car on all the time without realising but every time I checked, even if it’s left unlocked, it shuts down after a while: the 12v battery goes back to 12.6 volts instead of 14v meaning it’s not actively been charged all the time.
Maybe they did find the power off button but the tailgate is open. They obviously need to power off the car anyway to work on the rear bumper.

I would think that most peripheral components would be hardy enough to unplug/plug while powered. I hope so, as it's possible some of those circuits get powered up each time the car is accessed from the app. ?

The driving lights stay on on my Trophy. This alone is surely a beacon to any undesirables that suggests the ignition is on. I think they should turn off a minute or so after leaving the seat.

It's a bloody nuisance and I don't know why they do it that way. It's the one thing that prevents a true "camp mode" too. It does everything else you want to sleep in the car all night, but then it leaves the lights blazing.

I took my car up on the moor to watch the aurora that night it was so spectacular. I could sit in the car with the heating and the stereo on and it was great, but I had to deal with the compulsory light pollution. Like this.

These are magnetic car window blinds. The stay in place with wee neodymium magnets and I didn't get any sense they were going to damage the paintwork. Look a bit weird, but they worked perfectly in cutting the light right down. If you wanted to be absolutely stealthy you might need two, one on top of the other.

Why not just unplug the headlights?
Not something you'd want to do daily but trivial as an infrequent activity.

I'm really not getting into finding that fuse box. It's far easier to pop a cover over them, even if it looks a bit silly.

I mean, I drove up to the moor, needed the headlights to do that. Then I wanted as little light as possible to get my night sight going. Then afterwards I drove back home, again needing the headlights. I don't see me messing with fuses in the middle of that exercise.
