Went to get food shop and take dog out. Arrived back stopped car let dog out back and carried in bags. Forgot to push stop daughter arrived about an hour later to say your cars lights are on and making noises.

You would think a timer after you leave the keyless ignition range it would think no key in vicinity so will shut down, noise sounded like fan going thinking car was cycling engine off and on.

Most of times I notice when pushing door close it flashes lights to say somethings wrong.

Anyone else doing this.

I think you may be expecting a bit too much from a heap of metal and plastic, Evor. Even with all its technological gadgets the car can't actually reason or think logical thoughts. Maybe in a few more decades we will have something like Knight Rider on our streets.

Shouldn't be hard to write a routine in code that if key not present after an set period starts a timed shutdown, but prob do expect too much. KITT is still ahead of his time sometimes think the mg3 is more like KARR :)

Normally the car detects that the remote key is no longer detected and any attempt for a thief to drive the car is unsuccessful.

My previous Jazz made a regular sound inside to signal that the key was no longer detected and any attempt to lock the car remotely was not possible until the engine was switched off.

Well found the extent of not hitting the stop button this morning. Battery showing 1 bar never seen it below about half. Ten mile trip mix of urban and motorway ended up at 32mpg as never switched on full EV at any time.
Unsure of other manufacturers but still think if you leave car and it knows the key is missing it should shut down and possibly lock, mistake I will not make again.
It was unusual in that too much going on and forgot to lock which would have notified me with light flash something was wrong.

I've checked this for myself now, and yes this is exactly what happens. If the ignition is left on, when you try to lock the doors, the horn gives a quick warning blast and the car won't lock.
I agree but this time I forgot to lock as carried bags in and had dog. With it drawing up on EV it was silent. Because of this car must have just thought it was still being used so was cycling engine off and on. Now push stop before doing anything else.
