Hello, I'm looking at the mg5 ev after having diesels most of my driving life. I've currently got a 1.5 qashqai. My commute to work is 40 miles each way so I'm confident an mg5 would suite. No plugs at work but I'd just plug it in at home each night. My concern is when the car is full, 2 adults 2 kids and a boot full of suitcases. We live in Scotland and often travel 200 mile plus to England so I am just looking to see how people find the car when it's loaded up and how this effects the miles they get. Do people find it OK charging on longer trips? Thank you

Charging on long trips is mostly fine, but occasionally an issue. The trick is to plan well ahead and research your stops rather than just assuming you'll find somewhere good to charge on the go.

When you say 'often', the important question is how often? If you drive more than 200 miles in a day more than a couple of times a month then you might want a longer range EV.

I've not noticed a drop in range with more people in the car but there's going to be a slight increase in rolling resistance. More significant factors are the temperature and your speed.

I'd take a full day test drive and try out a good length trip to see how you get on.

I had a qashqai before my mg5 and I find the mg5 to be bigger for passengers and luggage space

So back from a week in Scotland and we travelled 737 miles in total. I started with a full battery (cost £7), used £26 from Instavolt rapid chargers (4 stops in total all of which convenient food/facility stops as well and also twice price of home charging ) on the long legs, and £10 of electricity charging at the cottage. Total £43. Assuming current prices and 40mpg it would be £112 in a Dinojuice vehicle.
And I wasn't holding back on speed and acceleration which is quicker than most Ice vehicles. No brainer.......

Stops were about 30 mins and were timed for a coffee/convenience break and we didn't have to spend any time waiting in the car. Always use Instavolt as usually as a minimum in pairs sometimes 4 of them, and always just off the motorway.
