I'm an admin on the Australian Electric Vehicle Association forum (as well as a moderator here), and it seems to fall to me to add a new forum whenever a new EV marque is available in Australia. We have one poster in particular, who kindly gives me a list of such marques to add, and his latest list was 9, with a similar list of 10 just a few months ago. Several of these models have been sold in Europe for some time, I believe.

The latest list:
Xpeng (G6)
Deepal (S06) another Chinese brand
Zeekr (X)
Cadillac (Lyric)
Leapmotor (C10)
Škoda (Enyaq) I actually had Škoda in there, under the Volkswagen group
Jeep (Avenger)
Lotus (Eletre)
KGM/Ssangyong (Torres electric) This South Korean manufacturer hasn't decided whether to keep its older name of SsanYong, or to change to KG Mobility or KGM when the electric model finally comes out.

The list before that:
Abarth (500e) Performance brand of Fiat
Cupra (Born)
Fiat (500e)
Genesis (GV60)
GWM (Ora, Cat or Funky Cat in other markets)
LDV (eDelive7 van)
Peugeot (e2008)
Rolls-Royce (Spectre) Yes! The Rolls Royce comes to Australia. I guess we have a few billionaires. Relegated to the "Others" forum for now.
Skywell (ET5)
Toyota (The "busy forks" or BZ4X)

Not all of these are competition for MG, but many are.

We currently have 46 subforums of Production Electric Vehicles, not counting the "Others". Two are specific to Australia (Blade, converted Hyundai Excels, now defunct, and Ace), and a few are motorcycles or trucks.

All the more to end up in dingles and the insurance company writing them off because no one wants to be responsible for repairing them ....... hard on insurance premiums, but great for cheap donor vehicles to upgrade a much-loved icon of yesteryear .....

Bring it on I say ;)

Yeah it is great to see we are getting (hopefully) high quality smaller, cheaper, EVs in the UK to add to the competition.
Remault 5, Hyundai Inster, EC3, Fronterra, Leapmotor thing.

All - like the MG4 - extending EVs to the masses. Competition is good for the consumer!

As mentioned above, in the UK we should be seeing things like

Skoda Elroq
Renault 5
Renault Twingo
Renault 4
Alpine A290 (the sporty Renault 5)
Kia EV3
Volvo EX90
VW ID2
Cupra Tavascan
Dacia Spring
Ford Capri
Porsche Boxster

Maybe the Tesla Model 2 (but it tends to be years from announcement to delivery)

There will also be the MG4 refresh with solid state batteries

Wow. That's mostly a different list to what is coming soon to Australia. Though I see that Renault are considering several EV cars and vans for Australia too, now that I search.

I'm suspicious that the solid state battery will eventuate, at least in next year's refresh. But please, MG, go ahead and prove me wrong!

I expect sodium ion cells will make it through to the mainstream before the solid state batteries become a commercial reality ..... but MG might prove me wrong as well .... is that enough of challenge
