I came across this PDF file from the site MG Motor EU, which contains a link to update the map data (21.3GB) of the navigation system to the 2024 version.

PDF: https://cdn.mgmotor.eu/manuals/MAP-Data-Update-for-EZS-MCE-LUX-and-MG4-LUX2-15.26.44.pdf

Map data update: https://www.mgmotor.eu/downloads/maps.zip

However, the title of the manual says:
MAP DATA UPDATE FOR ZS EV LUXURY EDITION & MG4 LUXURY EDITION

Has anyone tried to update the navigation system using this? Or is anyone planning to update it using this?

My MG is a different model, not sure if it would work, or it would mess up my system. But I kind of hope that
the map data are generic ones for all MG models.

Anyone know anything about this?

Happy MG'ing everyone!

Look up the other threads (one is in ZS forum I think), but yes that file will update your MG4 - it's the same file for all models. I updated mine the other week.

Mine is MG HS Luxury (this is how it is called in Italy) and I think it is equivalent to MG HS Trophy
Right. Good for you. What difference do you notice, except updates in maps... I have in mind like the voice command of the speakers. I find the voices of my old versions is quite "robotic" and not natural. Did you notice it, have they rectified it?

I don't really use the built-in maps, normally I use Google maps, but I keep the built-in maps up to date as a backup. This is the third update I have applied in 18 months.

Right, I have done quite a bit of research. Have come to the following conclusions:

For the car model MG HS Luxury in Italy (Trophy in the UK), non hybrid, non electric, just pertol and automatic, bought in May 2024 (manufactured likely at the end of 2023), the Navigation system is still using Naviextras as platform.

As such, updates are available, but one has to pay for it. The latest map for Europe, 2023 Q4, costs 129 euros!!!

And the update has to be done by first setting up the fingerprint map structure for the USB with the Car infotainment system, so that updates can be installed onto the USB via a programme called Naviextras Toolbox using a PC. And then they are transferred to the car using this USB.

At this point, I don't see it beneficial to spend so much money for a single purchase without the possibilities of future free updates! What a rip-off!
