Hi everyone,

I hope you're all well.

My car is an Exclusive 2022 and is due for a 3-year/45,000 miles service, which includes spark plugs, sump plug, and transmission fluid.

The MG main dealer have quoted me £720 which seems quite a lot.

My questions are:

1) What is a fair price at an independent garage with genuine parts
2) Does using an indpendent garage risk the warranty
3) Is there any impact to the PCP residual value if not servicing at the main dealer
4) Are there any MG approved garages which would be able to record their service on the system

Thanks in advance :)

I would look at the small garage that used to deal in new car before MG stopped supplying these out let and moved to only larger showrooms. They still allow them to do the service side and are covered then by the AA. The quote would be for the 4th year service.

Go to MG UK and get a service plan quote - I just got mine at £446 for Years 3-4 and the MOT. Year 3 for the MG4 was £170
Thanks, they are saying it's too late to get a plan for this service. I will look into it for the next year.

The car has only 27k miles but it's the 3-year service they quoted (2022 to 2025). I was hoping to delay it based on mileage :(

The high cost is what I was quoted for year 3 service. However, at 27000 miles your car will qualify for the 'low mileage' service schedule. Basically, this puts off the big service until year 4. Have a look at the low mileage service schedule at https://www.mg.co.uk/servicing.

I did point that out to them on the phone, but they said the high cost is because I'm not in a plan so it's a one-off quote (even if low mileage).

I think it must have been a mix up. I called up again today and they agreed it qualifies for a low milleage service which halved the cost! Thanks for the replies.
