I observed the behavior of the MG ZS EV while using MG Pilot and came to the following conclusion. MG Pilot has a higher consumption compared to when I drive without it. The reason is that during deceleration, there seems to be no regeneration. On the other hand, when driving on flat terrain or uphill, its ride is smoother, which I believe results in lower consumption. Therefore, I started anticipating my driving: I use MG Pilot on flat terrain or uphill when I don't expect to decelerate, and I turn it off when I expect deceleration to take advantage of regeneration. Of course, if I want to "rest," I let MG Pilot drive me.

Can someone confirm this, or have I observed it incorrectly?

I drive exactly the same way, and also use the KERS switch to go from coasting to decelerating.

This is the same as just using Adaptive Cruise Control, there is no regen. I don't use MG Pilot (too many bells and whistles for my taste) but when I use ACC I do the same as you, i.e. flick it off when descending.

I am glad that I understand it correctly. Thanks to this, my consumption dropped to 14 kWh/100 km, and in Austria, I was driving at about 13 - this is due to recuperation in mountainous terrain and a bit of foresight.
