Mg zs ev 2004 is quickly creeping forward on an incline and flat roads with auto hold switched on when i take my foot off the brake. No traffic in front, but it has took me straight into roads.
Can anybody tell me if I have something switched on that would be causing this and how to turn it off?
Thank you

Are you making sure you hold down the brake, firmly, for a decent length of time when you come to a stop?

If you just lightly press it quickly, which often happens on regen 3, when you come to a stop, it won't activate.

you should keep your foot firmly on the brake until you fully stop, if you don't or press the brake just a bit, car goes on slowly. Auto-hold is only engaged when you see green circled P lit on the dashboard.

Takes a bit of time to get used to driving EV

Same also on auto ICE cars I have had with auto hold.

The trick is, come to a complete stop, then without releasing any pressure off the brake pedal, give it another quick firm push.

Confirmation as above, is the Green A in a Green Circle becoming illuminated.

It could be this, I will give it a go. Its happened a few times at a junction, I had auto hold on (it was left on whilst driving, the mg dealer said I can do this) I took my foot off the break and instead of stopping me rolling back it moved quickly into the road, luckily there was no oncoming traffic. Its done the same on flat roads.

Not sure I would be using it for a junction.
Just covering the brake would suffice.

It's more for rolling up to a set of lights that has just changed and you know you have a wait on.
It is perfect in that situation.

To be clear, have the function of Autohold enabled permanently, just use it when the traffic situation suits.

Sorry I don't explain myself very well. It's all very steep roads where I live so I keep the autohold switched on as a back up to stop rolling back when switching from brake to accelerator in moving traffic. I know I have to press the brake a second time to activate the autohold and stop it rolling back but wasn't aware these cars actually moved forward by themselves especially on steep hills. It is most likely something I'm doing wrong I've been driving an old manual van for many years so it's all very new to me. Do you use park for in traffic on steep hills? The dealer told me that's for full handbrake use for when your parking up and leaving your car and the autohold for when in traffic.

He's right.
I use Autohold everywhere, and the park brake for exactly that.

Without trying to confuse the issue.

If it is a long wait, at lights that may have just changed for example, then do use the park brake, especially at night as this stops you blinding the driver behind you with prolonged brake lights.

You will soon get used to it.
Its an excellent feature.?

But don't put it in neutral.
When your ready, just press the accelerator and away you go.

The way I use it is this: Auto-hold switch next to gear selector is always - always - on, orange light on the switch is on. Drive as normal, use brakes as normal, keep the brake pressed until you stop (as if there was no auto--hold at all), once stopped and you see green P lit on the dashboard, you can let go of the brake, it's like having an automatic handbrake on.

Hill start or any other start once auto-hold (green P lit) is engaged - just press the accelerator pedal and drive off ...

I never use "P" Parking (red P lit on the dashboard) when I stop on the hill, just Auto-hold. I only use P option when I know I'll be stationary for more than a minute or so and don't need to move quickly.

One thing to note - I think it usually happens when you stop whilst going uphill or try to move too fast, haven't paid much attention - sometimes auto-hold might hold it for a slightly bit little longer once the accelerator is pressed and the car is trying to move and being held at the same time - ignore this and just keep the accelerator pressed at the same level - auto-hold will release within a second, don't panic and press the accelerator full-down (I was tempted to do it first time it happened and if you panic and accelerate uncontrollably ... people then blame the car for "hijacking" them ... ?)

It took me a bit of time to get used to ZS after my old manual diesel - to much information all at once ! You'll get used to it quickly. One thing to remember is - careful with pedals, this is a very, very quick car if you hit the accelerator hard ...
and - yes, read the manual, I have mine on my computer desktop ?

So the ZS has a Green P?

You thought being a SAIC MG the symbols would be the same??

@sonia sorry if there was any confusion.

It seems you have a P and I have an A

My in traffic advice remains the same! ?
