Hi all,
Sorry I know this has come up in the past, but from what I can read it's not the exact same issue. I've got a ZS trophy connect. It always shows a good 4G signal and for the last 2 months I've had good connectivity via this 4G signal. Yesterday the data stopped working - It still shows 4G and full bars. I connected to WiFi and the data came back (I use the Amazon online music so it's very easy to see if there is data or not). I've left it overnight and tried again this morning. When I turned the car on, 2G came up with full bars (I've never seen 2G since I've owned the car in over 2 months).

Some other posts suggest it not connecting to MG servers, but I don't think it's this. To me it's a connection issue. Others have suggested there is a data limit, but again, I don't think this would affect it going from 4G to 2G.

So far I've tried:
  1. Hard resetting the infotainment (Holding down the home button until it resets)
  2. Re-activating the infotainment system
  3. Connecting to Wifi then disconnecting
  4. Checking the engineer menu - not that there is anything in there that can be changed or adjusted that I can see for mobile connectivity
  5. Moving the car to different geographical locations

2 things I've yet to try:
  1. Disconnecting the 12v battery
  2. Factory resetting the infotainment system - only because I'm worried I'll lose the binding in the MG App
Anyway, if anyone has experienced similar or has any suggestions other than to take it to MG I'd be very grateful for your input.

Thanks everyone! :)

I don't have connect but to me this could be SIM or signal issue - is this happening at home only or everywhere you go, other locations outside your local area/mast? Also, it's only been couple of days so far?
Presumably the car is under warranty so I would book MG garage to look at it and possibly email customer services - they might just happen to reply quickly. I don't see what could you do yourself to fix this ...
I would not do factory reset and would not touch engineering menu - not worth messing something else up because of this.

Incidentally on the free data on the connect. How much do you actually get. I've only ever turned it on briefly to use a parking app if my phone could not pick up a mobile signal ( I have unlimited data and hotspot on my phone but obviously it can be outside of a signal frim time to time wheras the car will pick up from any network available).

Hi, thanks for your thoughts. Yes I agree, this is what I'm starting to think might be the issue. I wouldn't say I've used the data extensively, but I do have my two children using the hotspot for their iPads so maybe I have? There isn't any literature or information online regarding any limits, but other than a fault with the car itself, this is the most likely reason. I guess I'll have to wait a month or so to find out.
Today when I turned the car on it went back to 4G with full bars, but still no data :(

I did set up the personal hotspot from my phone (like you have done) for now as I can't see it resolving itself soon.

Thanks again :)

Hi Fred,
No I've driven quite a distance and certainly through several mobile areas and it still has the same issue sadly. This morning though it went back to 4G with full bars, but no data still sadly.

Thanks for your thoughts, I do appreciate it :)

apparently there is no longer an unlimited data plan on the connect. the data management option does not stay enabled, it greys out after a few minutes. i have tested this when i noticed i had no internet and no amazon music. once the month rolled over I had internet and music, however 6 days later there was nothing until the next month when the data plan reset. i think it is now 1GB per month
