Just had my 2 year service. They will replace the pollen filter but be warned if there is any debris like leaves and twigs that have managed to fall through the air vent under the bonnet when the filter is removed, this debris will fall straight into the fan unit. In my case the fan had a horrible noise when using above speed 5. I was forced to unhing the glove box take the new filter out and manually removed all the debris from the fan unit. Smaller hands are useful to get everything out. MG need to be careful when they do this simple task. Just wanted to warn everyone.

I often despair at some dealerships. My old man is a time served mechanic and I recall him always saying to get the shop vac out and clean out any debris before fitting a new air/cabin filter to avoid issues such as this, belt and braces; a bit of care of attention on the techs part would take 30 seconds at most and would avoid the customer having to undo their crap work.

Thanks for warning people of the fan position, always useful to know.

@STMDUK
My car is due for its second service next month, and I would like to check for debris before it goes in. Forgive my ignorance, but where exactly do I need to look, and hoover out if necessary? I watched the video, where the glove box was disconnected, and a plastic front piece removed to reveal the filter - is that what I need to do?

No such thing as ignorance when wanting to do a good job, so I applaud you. The slot that the filter goes into, pull the filter out, pop the crevice tool on the vac and clean out any debris that may have fallen into there, that way it keeps the fan assembly clear.

Thank you - much appreciated!

Same with my MG5 last week but in fairness to dealer they rectified it as soon as I raised it

Appreciate the warning.?

Just had my 2nd service done (LR Trophy). So far no problems with noises. Although, as they were supposed to check/inflate tyres and didn't, I'm not sure if they have changed the pollen 2.5 filter or not?
