Is it better to be in eco mode to get maximum miles per gallon or normal mode asking for a friend
Nicely done, Italy. My mpg has dropped significantly over the past 2/3 weeks. I'm now averaging mid-fifties.I'm not unhappy with my last consumption, and even cumulatively.

This is a constant for internal combustion engines and even more so for hybrid engines such as the MG3 (and many others). The phenomenon is even more visible on all-electric cars.I think the colder weather 8 deg C had a noticeable effect on economy. A journey in the summer I saw upper 60mpg, this evening the same journey barely 50mpg.
I have a feeling the engine needs to run for longer for the heater to work.
That's difficult to say on our MG3s, on a petrol car the A/C uses the most because the heat is generated free from the engine running. I don't know how heat for the heating is generated for the MG3.Which uses most AC or Heating?
Hi Italy. They don't tell you that in the blurb. I would assume temperature didn't affect EV's, although I can understand it affecting ICE's during the warming up period, but not once the ICE had reached optimum temp. This is a constant for internal combustion engines and even more so for hybrid engines such as the MG3 (and many others). Fuel consumption increases with lower temperatures.
From the engine too I assume CliveThat's difficult to say on our MG3s, on a petrol car the A/C uses the most because the heat is generated free from the engine running. I don't know how heat for the heating is generated for the MG3.
As a general rule, it is better to use heated seats and/or heated steering wheel, especially when starting off, then heating and possibly air conditioning only if necessary (misting, defrosting, etc.).Which uses most AC or Heating?
The performance of any lithium (or other) battery is reduced (especially when starting) if the temperature is low. This seems to be an established and documented fact.Hi Italy. Surely that would be powered by the battery as the engine will not yet be warm.As a general rule, it is better to use heated seats and/or heated steering wheel, especially when starting off, then heating and possibly air conditioning only if necessary (misting, defrosting, etc.).
I think @Italy's point was that if your hands and bum are warm, you won't need to heat the interior of the car.Surely that would be powered by the battery as the engine will not yet be warm.
Yes I got that Clive but, once warmed up the engine will provide the main heating, I may use the heated wheel for me wee paws, but I'm already too hot to handleI think @Italy's point was that if your hands and bum are warm, you won't need to heat the interior of the car.![]()
Very well mate, I (we) love it, and I have absolutely no problems with anything at all, apart from when I pull into our drive I have to stop to let the Mrs out because the passenger side is up against a fence, and at this stage in the past I have always removed my seatbelt to drive the last 20 yards, unfortunately once I've removed my seatbelt, the car won't let me drive any further, so I have to put my seatbelt back on. I had just got used to remembering to leave my seatbelt on for this manoeuvre, then after being away for a few days and not using the car, it caught me out again today. How are you getting on the new car Clive?
