Yes Robert Llewelyn has said I his latest fully charged show the MG4 is to be fitted with solid state batteries in 2025 take a look at his video from around 13 minutes into it

Does that not already have semi- solid state batteriesI saw an earlier article on this, and took it to mean the solid-state batteries would come with the IM L6, when that launches next year
He's equating the MSP platform with the MG4. So they might put solid-state in the MG4 or in a new model. I expect the price will be higher either way.Robert Llewelyn at about 14:20 in the first video said that MG said that the MG4, the car he's currently driving, will get a solid state battery by 2025. Maybe the message got corrupted somewhere along the line.
Definitely, efficiency with an EV is now one of the things I look at (as long as there is a decent range) a bigger battery is just like putting a huge fuel tank on a V8 might get you far but cost a lot more to get there.I’m thinking that the new era of solid electrolyte state rechargeable batteries will have similar characteristics to current none rechargeable batteries that we have all been using at home for many years - but obviously rechargeable.
One of the biggest challenges for this SS technology was recycling - I’m not sure if that has been fully addressed yet.
It’s always looked like a downward spiral, and shows a lack of forward thinking, to continue to produce heavier and heavier cars with large battery packs in an effort to provide a reasonable range - these models will surely become the EV equivalent of ‘gas guzzlers’ in the future.
The big difference is that increasing numbers have their own 'oil wells & refineries' at home for their EVs via PV systems. For me, I have free fuel through my PV system, so 'efficiency' isn't an issue in this context as I have a renewable free source to run an EV electron guzzler.Definitely, efficiency with an EV is now one of the things I look at (as long as there is a decent range) a bigger battery is just like putting a huge fuel tank on a V8 might get you far but cost a lot more to get there.
The recent What Car summer efficiency test looked at the cost differences between cars doing the same miles, some of the figures were incredibly more expensive
Which is why I'm inclined to believe the earlier IM L6 story, as IM are being pitched as the Lexus to MG's Toyota.Technically, it is only a semi-solid state battery, so a step forward but not the final destination.
Will most likely appear in a brand new higher end MG first, not the MG4. And the article only mentions in 1 model by end of 2025.
Solid state is great but will start off expensive, will take 2-3 years for the price to drop and usage to expand.
