MG4 Trophy LR
I've had an MG4 Trophy LR for almost a year and am generally very happy with it. A charging issue has recently arisen and I wonder if anyone has a solution. I set the Zappi2 app to 'FAST' charging, connect up the car, then use the MG4 phone app to start charging. After 10-20 seconds the charging starts and all seems well - but then after a few kWh of charge has been added to the battery the charging stops, with the Zappi2 app saying 'the EV is preventing charging'. If I then go to the MG4 phone app and ask it the start charging, it tells me to 'insert connector', even though the connector is already inserted. If I go back to the start, disconnect the car, then redo the process above, fast charging starts but after a few kWh of charge, it stops and the same message comes up on the Zappi2 app again. Any suggestions welcome!

I had a whole lot of similar trouble with my Zappi the day Octopus was offering free electricity for an hour. I kept trying to get it to do "FAST" charging and it kept flipping back to eco+. I finally got it to play ball when I got my phone and selected "FAST" in the MyEnergi app on the phone, rather than the app. Which suggests to me that the MyEnergi app may over-ride whatever you're trying to do on the Zappi itself.

I have indeed had the "EV is preventing charging" and the "please insert charging connector" things, but they tend to have been quite easy to sort out. Although I admit the way I sorted out the latter was just by unplugging the car and plugging it back in again.

Anyway, if you have the MyEnergi app it could be that that is interfering with what you're trying to do, so try that in the first instance. I don't usually use the MG app to start the charge.

A few things you could try.

Only set a charging schedule on the Zappi app OR the iSmart app but not both.
Switch the Zappi off at the main fuse box for a couple of minutes before switching it back on again so it reboots.

If that fails you might have a faulty CCU and will have to go to your dealer for a possable software update but more than likely a replacement.
