Unable to schedule charging with our charge point (Pod Point) as the wifi signal is weak even with boosters.

Set up in-car schedule and car did not charge when plugged in outside the time window which looked good. However in morning it hadn't charged which it should have done for 5 hours. Suggestions?

Had our MG4 excite 2 weeks and charging via app is definitely flakey. Trying to establish a pattern of behaviour. Seems to work if scheduled charging is turned off, then manually charged with a scheduled off time. But not an automatic on time.

Thanks, I didn't use the app, just the internal car scheduling which didn't work.

I also have a Pod Point charge point that is out of range of our wifi. My main problem is that the car often starts charging soon after the cable is plugged in even though there is a schedule set on the car (using the car's screen, not the app) and I'm plugging in before the schedule should start.

However, I've found a method that has worked for me each time for a good number of charges now. I plug in the cable, do not lock the car, manually start the charge from the car's screen and then immediately stop the charge from the car's screen, shut the door and finally lock the car. Every time I've done that, the car has followed the schedule. Oh, and I then don't look at the app unless the car is actually charging. If I look at the app outside the schedule it can sometimes trigger the car to start charging! But if I'm awake I may well check the app as occasionally the car or the app (no idea which) can change the percentage to charge to setting from 80% to 100%. If that happens, I use the app to set it back to 80% and that has also worked for me every time I've had to do it.

It's nuts that I have to do this, but it has become a habit now. Don't know if that will help you!

Thanks PeteC, that's excellent but why so complicated, how did you work it out? Will try in a day or two when I need a charge. I monitor my charges with my electricity smart meter from indoors. There must be a number of home chargers not supported by wifi, I just wonder whether they could monitor them with 4G. Regards, John

I started using the method because my car nearly always starts charging a short while after plugging in, regardless of any schedule set, and I was having to keep an eye on it to be ready to stop it. So instead of waiting to see if it started charging I decided to force the issue by starting the charge manually and then stopping it. It is stupid, but not as complicated as it sounds. I usually just lean in from the passenger side to start and stop the charging as that's the side the charge port is. Then lock the car from the passenger side.

There are home chargers that work by 4G and I have considered one, but as long as this method works ok I think I'll save my money! The only problem I have with it is that sometimes I would like to schedule a charge on a public charger to avoid peak time costs. Don't shout at me for blocking a charger - Connected Kerb were trialling scheduled charging where I stay in Scotland to help flat dwellers who have no possibility of a home charger. They have a minimum charge of £2 per session so starting the charge and then stopping it to get the schedule working costs £2 for virtually no electricity and negates any savings I might make! Not a common problem.
