When I first purchased my 23 plate MG4, I had 2 real gripes....the first being the awful infotainment system that insisted on downloading all music from a USB stick and loading it all in alphabetical order regardless of artist or album. Sacrilege.
The 2nd was the life-threatening LKA system that everyone complains about! I've just had a 15000 mile service which involved 2 software updates including the upgraded LKA system and what a difference. I no longer need to turn off the system as the car no longer tries to take control and become a kamikaze machine. All I need now is an upgrade to the USB playback facility. Here's hoping.

@derek31a, do you have folders on your usb to separate artists and music?
Yes, one folder per album, all tracks numbered as per original album. A sound engineer has been paid a lot of money to place all tracks in a particular order so that the album flows (with the exception of greatest hits and various artist compilations), so who am I to come along and rearrange the order!
I've commented on this before. See my previous posts!

My TLR is in for the SC077 update next week, this is the current software version, am I up to date?
Are there other modules I need to ask the dealer to check?

Since that release there has been:

1300R46
1300R59
1300R63 (latest)

So - no, you're not up to date. :)

1300R63 should be accompanied by an update to the HVAC module software, and they also need to do the configuration update via SIPS (if they update the Infotainment via USB).

Are these updates meant to be installed as a matter of course during a service, or in response to customers complaining about specific faults? I was only aware of SC077 because of this forum and had I not specifically raised it with the dealer I'm not confident that anything would have been done.

I was going to ask....nay insist the latest updates be installed but the garage told me they were part of the service package and would be installed free of charge during the service. They had the car for a full day, so no complaints there except for the fact that the service was 2 months late because the garage was over booked and couldn't fit me in!

R63 addresses the scaling issue with the HVAC temperature control (it is offset - high - by about 4 or 5 degrees before the update), so should be accompanied by the HVAC update. Prior to that then getting an Infotainment update isn't automatic - you need to complain about specific issues (like Bluetooth pairing regularly failing); or pay them for the update.

There are a number of posts about usb handling. I have experimented and found a few things, supported by those original posts.

With my R33 Trophy I note:

When I plug in the usb with folders it will all the tracks alphabetically, repeating the track if the same name appears in more than one folder. The list appears to be related to what was last played.

If you tap the arrow to the left of 'play all' the screen changes to show all tracks grouped by the first letter of the track name. The heading changes to 'USB folder'.
USB_2.webp
If you tap the left arrow you get a list of folders in alphabetical order.
USB_3.webp
Selecting a folder you get sub-folders and tracks, alphabetically.
USB_4.webp
Selecting a particular folder gives you the tracks in alphabetical order. In the example below I have renamed tracks to get them to play in correct order (but see later).

But note that this list for Tubular Bells III will also include tracks from my Tubular Bells folder, added by the software. And vice-versa.

Tapping the back arrow brings up the folder name in a return button and the tracks that are only in that folder.

The back arrow allows you to reverse out of the folder hierarchy.

Renaming tracks by putting a 'T' number in front can create the correct order but I have found that even with the T number the system plays in the original alphabetical order. I have found this with tracks I have played prior to adding the T number. I suspect cache memory in play.

Sorry for the long post, I hope something of it is useful.

I agree, just had my LKA updated and WOW what difference, much better, no need to turn off now

That issue was resolved for me in November 2023 with the SCUK001 update. But if you haven't already had it then you're missing at least one update.

My car has never had the SCUK001 update. I checked this with my dealer when the car was in for a couple of things this week. He checked against whatever MG said I needed and for some reason it did not include SCUK001 and, even though I queried this, he could not be persuaded. Instead, as far as I know, I just got the SC077 update and update to R63 for the infotainment. The good news is that, despite not having the SCUK001 update, the ACC no longer slows around bends, the toggle now changes the speed in 1mph increments and the ACC is much smoother so I'm quite happy with the outcome.
