Had my 2nd service on Friday and they installed 2 recall updates. (LKA and charger pin)
The 3rd (think it was immobilisation) couldn't be applied (it failed) so they asked me to come back today (Monday)

Went for the service, the update failed once then applied on the second time.
Drove for about 30mins, parked up at the shops, came back out.
When I tried putting the car into drive and taking my foot off the brake the power was being delivered according to the indicator bottom right but the car wouldn't move.

Tried a few different things, like go in R, in and out, battery reset. Nothing worked.

AA called, car wouldn't talk to the computer, wont go into neutral for towage and will be recovered to deal tomorrow.

Pretty sure its the update that's messed this up, anyone have experience?

The amount of times I've read about so called make the car better, updates.
Actually making it worse. Is getting more and more. When my X Power goes in for it's 1st service in September, they are not updating owt..
Hope you get yours sorted. 🙂👍

I had very similar when I updated my car and some bits failed. Oh I panicked. To get all the updates on took me from 9.20am until around 5.30pm with many battery disconnects and pain. If you scramble a module often the only way is to program as a replacement not an update.

Apparently the official dealer interfaces aren’t much better hence a lot of reluctance to do sw updates.

Back in September 23 when I had my first service done I was told that they had to do updates otherwise the warranty wasn't valid! Then when it went back for it's second service they didn't plug it in so no updates were done. They just make it up as they see fit.

Third service at another dealer and they didn't do the SC0077 update - the whole lot of them are lying useless twonks.

If you had done the updates yourself … I think you’d have more sympathy. It is not a nice process. My little SE SR took most of the day, try after try which would be a car tieing up a bay and the tools. They really need to sort the sw out and get it slick and/or OTA.

Exactly why they ain't doing any updates on mine, on the 1st service in September.
Firstly as I've said, the updates seem to make a lot of the cars worse. 🙄
And Secondly, do they actually know, what they are doing? 🤪

I think they know what they are doing BUT from my understanding SIPS, VDS and the interfaces are what they used in place of testbook on the TFs they made back in 08 which was a mid 90s setup in reality. The tools are built on what GM do and made to work with MGs (from what I’ve pieced together). I think it’s in a bit of limbo and probably at the same kind of level as when you used to really tax a computer trying to watch a DVD or encode an MP3 20 years ago.

IMHO they need to throw more into that side of things and break away from the old methods of a diagnostic interface doing all the leg work whereas it should be pushing files/data to the car then it having the grunt to sort it out itself but I speculate a lot.

As for the content of the updates - after the monster effort doing it my 1st off the boat SE it is a happier bunny. Lane kill sorted, heater sorted, increased range (I think more stable heating and better battery balancing / cramming).

So the car has been in since last Tuesday, apparently the rear wheels are locked up and wont unlock without a special key from MG.

I've had no offer of a courtesy car and since Wednesday no communication.
I've tried ringing them multiple times a day but no response.
Drive MG Darlington are a dealership you should avoid!

Have you tried putting your foot down, with a firm hand. There's nothing beats an in person, confrontation. It's obviously there fault. So a courtesy car is a given. Then see how quickly they sort it.
E-mails and phone calls are just ignored.
😡🤬

Funnily enough it was them that did my first 2 services and after complete bull and lies from them I changed to another dealer about 12 miles east of them. The new dealer doesn't appear any better!

I can't personally vouch for them but I haven't heard any bad reports about the dealer in Croxdale near Durham.
