I've owned my MG5 since new in April 2022. My intention with this car was to always give electric a go and then hand back at the end of the PCP agreement (April 2026).

Last month I noticed that there was some lacquer peel appearing on the passenger side door, I've never used a pressure washer on the car so I have no clue how it would happen.

I took it to the dealership to see whether it would be covered under warranty, they have taken their photos to send to MG but have braced me to receive a fim "no" due to the stone chips around the peel.

What would you guys advise as my next step?

Thats not good
Same colour as mine
I would not have expected a stone chip to cause that sort of problem!
Looks like an original build or prep for sale problem. (Often minor damage occurs in transit and gets repaired prior to delivery, look closely at trim etc to see if there are signs of overspray?)

Mine is perfect and there appears to be no peeling around the few stone chips on my 2021 MG
The tri colour paint is not cheap or easy to apply. don`t be suprised if the bill is £600+ !!!!!
I would still push the issue if the first response is a no
Good luck

Surely if that is the tri coat red then they should sort it.
I have the white and it is a very thin coat of paint.
I have quite a few chips on the bonnet but no peeling.

The shape of the peeling strongly suggests there is an adhesion problem, so likely due to poor prep.
