MGS5 EV – Overview
The MGS5 EV is a new all-electric compact crossover SUV introduced in 2025, replacing the long-running MG ZS EV. Built on the same Modular Scalable Platform as the MG4, it brings improvements in space, technology, and range.

Note that MG are using a new naming convention where an S before the number denotes an SUV body style. Hence the MGS5 name, all one word, no spaces.

Design and Dimensions
The MGS5 EV measures 4,476mm in length, 1,849mm in width, and 1,621mm in height, with a 2,730mm wheelbase. This allows for a roomy interior and a boot capacity of 462 litres. The styling includes split LED headlights, a wide front grille, and a full-width rear light bar, giving it a more modern and premium look than its predecessor.

Interior and Features
Inside, the car features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a large 15.6-inch touchscreen for infotainment. The cabin design has been modernised with upgraded materials and tech, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Trims and Pricing
Available in the UK from April 2025, the MGS5 EV comes in three variants: SE Standard Range, SE Long Range, and Trophy Long Range. Prices start at £28,495, positioning it competitively in the electric SUV market.

What is standing out for me in the reviews vs MG4:

- Faster and better range than MG4 equivalents (surprised) while retaining sporty rear-drive handling.

- Much better infortainment system and wireless CarPlay / AA.

- More space all round, inside and in the boot.

- Finally, a way to have ADAS defaults at the touch of a button.

- Keen pricing.

I don't normally go for SUVs / Crossovers, but this looks like it might be without compromises.

Bjorn's review was pretty good. It looks like they have concentrated on the things that really matter, and saved a bit on stuff like the sound system. It's decently efficient. The MG Pilot thing is still a bit twitchy.

The car is now listed on the very informative EV database:
