I have a MG ZS Long Range Luxury (2nd gen). A few days ago while on holiday in France, without any reason like flooding, damage, maintenance, the car suddenly started its wiper/washer, opened the rear windows a little, then opened the rear windows completely, started honking, first short honks and then without stopping. Closing the windows worked, but they opened themselves again and did not respond to the closing button.
After switching off, this repeated itself.
I disconnected the 12v battery, which seemed to help for a short period. I can drive it for hundreds of kilometres but after a nightly stop it seems to come back. Also, I noticed a warning at the same time that the ecall function was off.
It all seems to happen rather randomly. I have looked under the bonnet but can’t find anything untoward, like cables having been gnawed through.

Any suggestions? Much appreciated!

I will certainly take my car to the dealer when back from my holidays in France. It is still covered by guarantee.

Sounds like something is on the fritz.

The E-call function being "unavailable" is not uncommon.

Sidenote : Do not press that button unless it really counts, i accidentally hit it and there seems to be NO way of cancelling the call, so i had to apologize to the 112 operator a lot when it finally got through and HE had to end the call for it to stop. :(

I had a similar issue with a previous car . After the garage (mis)diagnosing many issues , it turned out to be a bad cell in the 12volt battery . It didn't go flat but just didn't charge fully . New battery , all issues disappeared (y)

No window opening function on iSmart, But I guess like a MS computer , turn it off and on again, and if required the trusty 10mm spacer and disconnect the battery -ive for 10 minutes.

Nothing as bad for me thank goodness, yet, but mine randomly switches navigation on, loses all radio channels and a few other small but annoying things.
Software is a pile in pants 🙄

I had the phenomena of my MG5 EV driving fast in the back garden (feb '24) when I was not using the accelerator. My wife was not pleased to lose her greenhouse. LV insurance covered all. Someone from MG, checked the car ('there was nothing wrong') when at the Dealer's prior to repair which took about one month.

For a while we called the car 'Red Devil' it has not mis-behaved since.

Mine sometimes loses activation, loses the radio & the weather. I keep the weather on broadcast to know if activation is lost.

Trigger as I call it (pulled the fastest milk cart in the west) is though so far a good buy.
I had a Polo before that also occiaionally threw a hissy fit on sat nav & radio

I have had the car inspected by the garage. When reading the "Body Control Unit" they found a fault. As they never encountered this a ticket to MG support was made. I expect they will be allowed to order a replacement under guarantee. I'll keep you posted.
