Well it finally happened to me, almost 2 years in.

After I plugged in recently, my leg scrubbed the corner of the flap, and...crunch.

There wasn't much force involved. Snapped like a carrot.

Looking at the design on the structure, someone at SAIC thought that the best place to save plastic, and introduce hollow cross webbing that's less than 1mm thick was at the very point in the hinge where most of the force is applied - because that's how physics works, no?

I've done what someone else did and I'm just pushing it back on for now, it stays in place.

Everyone else's epoxy/araldite bodges holding up?

I use supaglue to hold various plastic thing together, I'd really surpised how well it holds, even with my safety glasses I wear every day at work.

In my experience it is very hard, but can be brittle…

Without doubt, it is a poorly designed part.
Well, from the customers side, certainly.
But maybe not so much, in regards to the after sales work revenue generated due this component failure !.
Replacing this item is NOT a cheap repair and is very likely to repeat itself, as I believe the design / strength has not been improved in any way.
However, the price of the replacement part itself, has increased dramatically.
Good money spinner ?.

They must be easy to break off as In the last few months I've seen two Gen ll Zs EVs in car parks near me with the charge flaps missing.
