Thailand got an upgrade to MG4s. Now the SR have 49kWh LFP battery instead of 51kWh, and the Long range with 64kWh battery now limited to 170HP as are the SRs.

The new 12.3" infotainment is available as standard in both models, xPower 10.25" as per Europe models.

IDK if this "V3" MG4 will come to Europe

? Does this suggest that some of the electronics ,BMS , Power modules etc, are interchangeable between models . So in the future spare parts from scrap yards will not have to be exact model specific?

The screen is separate from infotainment control computer (more like a computer and a monitor setup) so it's basically plug in new screen and change the software drivers to match.

You can see how the bottom tapers in to fit the existing mounting so they didn't have to redesign the dashboard part.

I'm not sure how reduced power and battery capacity can be seen as an upgrade ? As for the larger screen, no thanks.
This fashion for sticking touchscreens atop the dashboard has never won me over, the MG 4 10.25" one is at least small enough that it's not too dominating.

I agree although I think you'll hate where things are going with (for example) the IM L6:

Its correct but i am not sure that the new screen software will work with EU bms, ecu, and more. Maybe if someone will found out how to install R59 software on this screens it could work.

It's a new version, not an upgrade at some things.

BTW, with only 50KG different from SR to LR and 34 more hp, the LR should be quicker. But surprisingly it's not. So maybe also the current MG4 LR is 170hp.

I notice there's no battery pane on this shot. Does that suggest that the screen might be customisable or have they really decided that a whole load of weather is more useful than the state of charge? Given my experience of Thailand the weather simply needs to say HOT and maybe wet or dry! :ROFLMAO:

Or maybe the new LR is using the current SR motor and diff gearbox rather than a different diff gearbox?

Yep, the current LR has different gearing which is why it isn't quicker (actually slower) despite the higher power. Given how close they are in performance might make sense to simplify.

I don't think they have different gear ratio. Maybe because they have the same 250nm torque figure

The current cars in the UK almost certainly do have different gearing between the SR and LR cars ... the SR cars are faster 0-30 but the LR cars are faster 30-60 (mph), however the SR gain 0-30 means the overall 0-60 of the SR is marginally quicker.

I'm happy for anyone to offer an alternative reason as to why the above acceleration info is true.

In the Refit and remove manual provided by Siteguru. On page 83 MG give the same shaft A motor and reduction gearbox for the 51 kw and 64 kw version. ( differing BMS )
Page 149 gives us a Shaft B version for the 77kw Ext and rear motor X power.
The acceleration figures are factory issued , have the three original versions been tested against each other independently , most YT videos do a singular test and quote the official line, or better. The 51 kw version has a different BMS and is a tad lighter ????? and in Europe came with steel 16 inch wheels. Maybe that's the one they tested.

I don't know (they are not in the manual although other details/differences are explained there) but I remember this coming up when the car launched and being explained by MG.
Isn't top speed 160 km/h for 51 kWh and 200 km/h for the others? It could be the motor, but that could also be a result of the diff gear ratio

The Diff ratios seem to be the same, but there is a difference in the imput shafts ( A and B ) which may give the top speed difference . The torquiere B motor is most likely due to having more windings . If the reduction gearbox is shared between models??? then that's good news for for the original three models as the gearbox should be able to handle the 350 newtons of torque which the last two models have. Although the poor Spanish guy whose gearbox let go would not agree with.

According to one doc, the gear ratios are the same, as is the torque, just a difference in peak power.

I might have phrased it poorly, The SE, SELR.. and Trophy have 250 N the Extended and X-power rear have 350N with the same reduction ratios., implying they may share the same castings ,bearings,, and gearing.
