Hi,

My names Rob & in live in South Lincolnshire. I’ve just ordered a ZS EV Exclusive in white and am hopeful of delivery before Christmas. The deals all agreed & I’m just waiting a date for delivery. I‘m getting all excited. I’ve fancied an EV for ages, so I’ve finally bitten the bullet & traded in two cars which are just out of warranty. The price of the car was excellent and the dealer was quite good on the trade-ins. Ideally I’d wanted a model 3 or Kona/e-Niro but really could not justify the massive extra money for the extra range/performance they give. Dealer has confirmed the new software has been fitted and I’ve gone for a spare wheel as well.

Does anyone have experience of using a Zappi charger with the ZS? I have a sizeable solar PV system and am hoping to use the capability of the Zappi to adjust the charge to the car according to how much is “spare” is available rather than export it to the grid.

That‘s it for now, I’ll post again soon.

All the best - Rob

You’ll love it, mines white they are great and great value for money!

I’ve not used a Zappi, but heard good things about them from other users who have solar, in fact I was tempted to go with a first gen Zappi when I got my first EV in 2018, in case I got Solar in the future. They are a local business to you as well!

Hi, yes, they are about an hours drive to the north east of us. My solar installer is one of their approved installers - so that’s all good.

I must admit I was well impressed with the built quality when we saw one in the flesh, very solid door shuts & a quality feel in the cabin. I’ve heard said that the steering wheel is by VW, is that true?

Congratulations Robert, I drive through Lincolnshire on a regular basis from Derby to Norfolk. We find the new high speed chargers at Necton very handy. We too have Solar panels, so am quite happy to plug it in during the day and don't worry about the cheap nighttime juice.
We too are impressed with the build quality....and I love the SUV type ride hight.

(I used to keep a boat at Boston, just below the swing bridge.)

@Lincs Robert I've been using my Zappi all this year and have 16 panels producing about 3.8 Kwh. It's great during the summer months of course and to make full use of the solar power it's necessary to keep the charge rate to below about 3.5 Kwh which is slow charging, but that's ok if you don't need to use the car on a daily basis. However it suits me and during the summer months I enjoyed between 87% to 94% solar power when charging.
If required, you can increase the rate of charge to the Zappi's max of about 7Kwh which takes more from the grid and uses less solar.
This time of year the solar energy produced is very low, between 0.5 and 3.0 Kwh daily so my Zappi gets used as a normal 'fast' charger.
In summary, solar power is not so useful for car charging if you need to use the car every day and have to charge at night!

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I’ve got a 7kW system and existing 20kWh battery storage system. That means that during the summer our standing charge is often more than our actual consumption. We still managed to export 1600kWh this year though - so I’m hoping that much of that can go into the ZS.
I’m also awaiting installation of a smart electricity meter - this should allow me to avail myself of the Octopus Go tariff - which can be used for charging the car and the house battery @ 5p per unit rather than full price!
Its all quite exciting really isn’t it! Having a Model 3 performance to do rapid 0-60 would be the icing on the cake, but hey-ho, that a HUGE price to pay for a (not so) cheap thrill.

Cheers
