This morning, as we were returning home from Sainsburys at Washington Galleries shopping centre, I noticed a new signpost pointing to 'UltraRapid EV charging'. Naturally I followed and found this: -

8 charging bays, all empty at Friday lunchtime. According to ZapMap these are 200kW chargers costing 79p per kWh, so not cheap.

Incidentally, at the opposite end of the shopping centre, next to Sainsburys, there's a been a lot of work going on behind some wooden hoardings for a few weeks now, which could be even more chargers being installed.

This is a pretty small shopping centre, though it serves quite a wide area, so is usually packed, but it'll be well-served by rapid chargers soon by the look of it! Pity about the lack of reasonably-priced fast chargers though.

We used to go to the Galleries once in a while when we used to live in Birtley. Been in Scotland for 27 years now though, so I guess a lot has changed in that time. :)

Some of these PoGo chargers have just been installed in a small local shopping area near me too. Shut off about a third of the entire car park for about two months while they did it too.

Handy if you are going north/south on the A1M, if the car charges in 20/25 minutes then you will most likely have to stay with the car and then move it or possibly receive extra blocking charges if you decide to go shopping in the galleries.

Sainsburys is rolling out rapid chargers to thousands of their supermarkets. However, I thought they were installing their own contactless chargers, not PoGo. They're also offering Nectar points when you use them now.

Sainsbury is at the opposite end of the mall from that car park - that one's at the ASDA end.
