Hi All, 'hoping some genuine lad can help me. I have a 2023 MG ZS ev mk2. There is only cold air coming from the vents regardless of driving in eco, normal or sport mode. heating can be turned all the way up and still it will be only cold air coming into cab. outside temp is reading correctly at 5 degrees C. I assume the blower is okay as its blowing in cold air? can anyone give me info on the heating element and where it is if i need to replace. many thanks.

It might be a blown fuse, or a trip to the dealership for a warranty repair.

would you know which fuse?
The heater element will be high voltage, so it will have a high DC voltage rated fuse that will not be in with the 12 V mini-blade fuses, unfortunately.

The best you can hope for is that some heater related control circuit or relay has lost its 12 V power via a 12 V fuse. Even the heater relay will be a special high DC voltage rated unit, not user accessible.

It could be something simple like a hose come off, or fluid run empty, I guess.

Good luck!

I remember some owners had problems with faulty heater relays. It was a fault on early models but not seen any probs lately except yours. They were all replaced under warranty.

No heat must be a warranty issue.
not necessarily - different parts have different cover;

I would check with MG customer services and another dealer whether they would do repair under warranty and if not, get someone to quote for repairs and decide. Don't get me wrong but if you don't know what's wrong and what needs replacing, chances of doing it yourself are 50/50, is it worth risking it?
However, if you are keen to do DIY as much as possible, you can download service manual with full instructions for everything - search this forum and you will find links how to do it, you join MG Europe and for a small fee download what you need.

thanks very much for sharing your knowledge mate, much appreciated.

The air-con regass is 6 months, but there is no exclusion mentioned for the heater, so it is covered under warranty. I think you need to go through this list with your local dealership and educate them.

Worst case scenario is that they say it's part of "convenience" to be kept warm in winter ...😅

INFOTAINMENT, CONVENIENCE SYSTEMS & DRIVER AIDS 36 months 45,000 miles

but since the car is 2023 model - all good. @matthew stewart - straight to MG garage for free repairs !🙂

(but don't leave the car with them until they get the spare part, some people wait for weeks..)

I mean, those things never worked properly to begin with, so all academic really.

I get very little heat from mine while driving. In other cars I always have the climate set to 19 or sometimes 20. I felt cold the other day so set my MG to 24 and it didn't get any warmer. If I use the windscreen demister that blows hot air ok, but it's very noisy so don't want that on all the time. The normal heating does heat the car from really cold to bearable, but never much above that.

sounds like you could be driving in eco mode?

I drive my Mark 1 ZS EV in eco all the time. It just means you have to use extreme temperature settings. The Mark 1 doesn't have a temperature setting in degrees (as with climate control), just "more cold" or "less cold" etc.

For northern hemispherians at this time of year, substitute "heat" for "cold" 🥶

I mostly drive in ECO and have no heat problems - I try to keep it blowing onto the windscreen only, at 20°C and without A/C unless demisting. The only iffy thing I noticed is that sometimes it feels warmer than 20 and sometimes slightly colder - but then again, it might be me burning off calories ... But turning up to 21°C makes noticeable difference ... all I can suggest is play around with settings and see how it goes ...
