Octopus Agile/Go - catch?

Ok, so I e switched supplier from So Energy to Octopus & am awaiting installation of a smart meter that will allow me to switch to Go/Agile.

My er, concern, is not with the electric side of the switch, but the gas side - have I let the benefits of one seduce me on the other? Are these “dual fuel” tariffs, or can I then seek the best gas only one and then switch the gas only to get the best gas deal? My gas usage is much greater than my electric & I’m afraid that I may have taken my eye off the ball re the gas side of things. Any comments please?

I’m with octopus for gas and electric. Both seem comparatively reasonably priced. Do you think that you can get a much better gas deal? I too use a lot of gas.

The tariff I switched away from was So Alder, with a 21p a day standing charge and 2.1810 per kWh, plus vat of course. I use something over 30,000 kWh a year of gas. Once I’ve fully switched to Octopus (I.e. on Go & the smart meter working), then I’ll almost certainly start looking around for the best gas tariff. To be fair, the So Alder rate finishes in April - so I would have looked around then anyway.

Watching this with interest as I have an OHME cable and current tariff is with Avro energy (13.49p /kWh).

I estimate that typical mileage would use 75kWH per week and because the car is new this is additional Electricity cost. (But I lose petrol costs).
If I assume all charging is done at home, then this is an estimated extra £500 per year with Avro .

With Octopus Go, assuming car is only charged at the night 5p rate, that works out at £190 extra per year. But need to add £50 to cover increased standing charges and slightly higher daytime unit rate.
Gas costs with Octopus would be increased by £70 a year.

So an extra £500 with Avro or extra £310 with Octopus Go so switching makes sense.

I am 3 months in to a 12 month agreement, so would need to pay £60 to switch.

I would like to get some actual charging data to confirm my estimates and also check out some other suppliers.
