Outside temp shows -40C, fans and blowers don't work!

Hi all,

Today it's about 8°C outside, but our 2021 ZS shows the outside temp as -40°C, and the fans and blowers don't work no matter the settings.

We've had weird temperature readings before, but this one seems stubborn and the lack of blowers at this time of year is a bit of an issue.

Can the car be convinced to do some sort of reset? Or has something actually broken?

I had same problem on my mg5
Just disconnect the 12 volt battery for 10 minutes

Is there anything that needs to be done after reconnecting it, or will it just all spring back into life?

I reconnected the battery
Locked the car and left it for 10 minutes
Opened the car started it up
It cycled through loads of different errors
Wait until it stops reporting all the errors
I then I drove to the end of the street and all the errors cleared
It’s been fine ever since

Yep, disconnecting the 12V battery for 5 mins worked a treat. There were no errors shown anywhere, everything behaved normally right from the get go.

As a general rule, the first thing to try with computer problems is a reboot.
Doesn't always work, but a lot of the time it does.
In this case temporarily disconnecting the 12V battery does just that.
