I have noticed some bubbling of paint due to rust on my roof. I have found that there is a 7 year warranty on paint perforation due to rust. However the dealerships don't seem to know about it!
It states in the warranty that to qualify it will need the following.. "The body panels are inspected annually throughout the warranty period by an Authorised MG Repairer (relevant paperwork completed and endorsed), and any rectification work found necessary is carried out in accordance with MG’s recommendations."
No dealers I've called know about this. Is it part of the service as standard, if so where is the endorsed paperwork? I spoke to head office customer services who said you request the check separately. Sounds like you have to request it and pay extra! why is this not told to us when booking the service or when purchasing the car?
Has anyone got any experience on this situation?
Maybe we can make a claim like PPI as we were not informed about this at the point of sale or when booking a service. I get plenty of requests for other add-ons like air con regassing

yes it says so in the warranty papers, can't miss it ... whether you need to request it and pay extra, don't know, I got mine second hand ..

I am arguing this point now i bought my MG NEW and have had it serviced religosly for those years andnot once have i ever waived any warranty repairs. NOW they are saying it is an extra REQUESTED requirement, but nothing to show you declined it as part of your service requirements it is their standard to do it so it should also be standard to say yo declined it as anything else suggested in a repair that you decline.

As with most manufacturers, the rust warranty only covers perforation from the inside, anything on the surface is classed as damage (stone chips etc.) and is not covered.

Here are a few pictures of the rust just above the windscreen of my MG5 SR Excite. My dealer sent pictures to MG but they say this has been caused be stone chips. Most of the paint is still there so not chipped.

Was the car new to you m8?

Bottom one looks like it might have been touched in at some point.
The top one definitely looks like a stone chip that's started to rust.

Yeah, I have had it from new just clocked over 68k. Never touched up the paint above the screen only a few chips on the bonnet.
MG have agreed to paint the rust holes under the bonnet under warranty.

That was my point I raised with them. They should have mentioned when I bought the vehicle that you need to request a separate person inspects the car for rust perforation yearly. Sounds like another PPI type scam. I am waiting for the lawyers to start phoning me in a couple of years

How is anyone ever going to detect rust from the inside, inspected or not?! there's roof lining, seats and door linings etc

They will use the stone chip excuse to get out of any claims from the front of the car. I got my rust spot professionally repaired. The car has been faultless mechanically but this year I will be selling it and go back to a diesel car, no more EV for me for a while
