Hi Guy's and Girls. I have a part time job where I have to sit in the car waiting, sometimes for hours to collect export papers. Anyway recently noticed that I could not find a way to turn off the daytime lights to save battery usage whilst sat in the car, even if I locked the car from the inside. So I went to the safety tag and powered down. So all was fine until I drove away and tried the usual menu to ditch the LKA. But I just got a flag with the same message saying "power will resume when car is re started" well I had re started and was back on the road! So I pulled over thinking maybe I had fallen into the usual trap and hadn't waited long enough for the info screen to fully load up. Switched off got out and re entered the car, but still every time I tried to access any menu it came up with the same message! Well at least I was able to get Home but that was about all, couldn't get into sat Nav, music or even factory reset. When back home I realized I couldn't even get into the charging menu, the start charge button did not work and the schedule was blank. Last ditch effort was to see if disconnecting the 12v battery would fix it, left it for an hour and even that didn't work, gave up and went to bed. Next morning got in the car, it had charged up on schedule and everything was working perfectly and has ever since. So please beware of using the power off button unless you have to! A very merry Christmas to you all.

To make it easier to read. :)

Are you saying you couldn't hold down the Home button to reset the infotainment system? Normally holding that down for 15 seconds triggers a reboot which fixes most issues.

I regularly do this without problems (turn off while waiting for a passenger and then start up again without needing to do anything special, just press the brake pedal to wake the car).

Maybe you are in need of some software updates? I've had a bunch and I think there's a host of things that have been fixed, many of which I never even knew were a problem!

I presume that getting some software updates means a trip to your MG Dealer - yes? Problem there is I wouldn't touch my Local MG franchise with a barge pole again, they had me over for five hundred notes for a Gardx deal that was never applied. Is it not possible to download via iSmart?

To make it easier to read. :)
Sorry, to make what easier to read?

Your original wall-of-text opening post. :)

It was hard enough on a laptop - I can't imagine how it would be for someone reading on a phone. 🤷‍♂️

Yes I tried to re set holding down the Home button, but it refused to go anywhere but the Home screen

Gotcha, but I just get migraines reading text on screens and up to now haven't needed to. If I get bored again sometime maybe I'll run it by me again. What's wrong with a good ol' pair of Hand and service books, guess it may put another tenner on the price, not sure what difference that would make now they are virtually giving them away. Fortunately I still love it as much as ever.

Also, I was given the worst "so called" hand over ever seen. Just given the keys and told to "enjoy and have fun" Before retirement I was in the motor trade for three decades and never saw the like.

Yep, MG customer service is, shall we say,
not the best, at times. 🙄🤪

Thanks for that, I didn't think it was just me being picky. But thanks to MG for providing me with this wonderful (and probably my last) exciting Car which I don't deserve really, only get to drive her once or twice a month (don't get out much) but it never fails to put a smile on my face.

Glad it sorted itself out for you overnight ! I'm surprised disconnecting the 12V battery didn't do the job !. Good job you were back at home and not needing to go anywhere 🫣

Sounds like Hendy Exeter! I demanded and got the GardX refunded. Raise an official complaint and send a copy to Hendy CEO.That got a response within two hours.
