Press the brake pedal for a change! 😮

A strange message appeared in my MG3 this morning.

Here's the context: I take the car out of the garage, press P and leave the engine running.
I get out of my MG3, keys in my pocket to lock the garage.
The engine is still running.
I get back into the car and the message appears on the dashboard.

I press the brake pedal. The message appears again. I can start the car and drive off without any problem.

Do you have any idea why this strange message appears?

Because you had left the car running for more than a given number of seconds without doing anything, the system probably thought you had been trying to put it in D or R unsuccessfully, so it's reminding you that you need to press the Brake Pedal to change gear - Press the brake to change.
