Had the misfortune to get the dreaded low tyre pressure warning today. Sure enough, bad puncture on ns rear. Pulled onto next garage for air and, lo and behold, two more cars already pulled in with punctures. We'd all come from the same direction/road, so??? Anyway, got the kit out of the boot, after much head scratching managed to pump the tyre up. That lasted about five minutes! Fortunately, an AA man was already tending to one of the others so he did my after he'd finished. Excellent service, I thought, and a really pleasant mechanic. Debating with myself now whether to buy a spare, or rely on the good old AA in future.
Addition to my previous comments. Asda tyres (Who knew Asda did tyres?) have the Kumho tyres for the MG3 Hybrid. Fitted at a local garage for £75.75.
Just a question before I splurge 75 quid. Is it really necessary to replace a perfectly good tyre, (2 weeks old), because it contains the gunk repair fluid that MG supply you with? Since the AA chap did the roadside repair I have had no problems of losing air and as far as I can see, the tyre is perfectly sound.
If it is the case where a new tyre is needed, it doesn't look good for the sale of tyre repair kits. I certainly won't be using the stuff again.

I can't remember when I last had a puncture.
Me neither............... until two weeks ago, when my front offside tyre warning indicated a low pressure. I pumped it up, but it was slowly going down again so took the car into Kwikfit and found I had a screw lodged in the tyre. Unfortunately, it was through the shoulder of the tyre so not repairable and £170 later I had a new one on. I guess I cannot complain, as it is the first puncture I have had for at least 35-40 years.

I'll buy a spare, as I got caught out on a Bank Holiday weekend with a different car brand that had no spare. Waiting an hour for the AA and when they came, they confirmed what I had told them in that the Tyre could not be fixed with gunk. After that, they had to send for a different vehicle that could lift the car and carry three of us. I was dropped off to pick up a hire car as the tow truck continued to a compound until Tuesday morning when they could drop it with the garage to put on a tyre. It was way more complicated than just changing a wheel.
I had Bridgestone driveguard tyres on another car and they were great for peace of mind, but they don't do them for the size of tyre that fits the MG3. Continental do a system where they prefill fill the tyres with a puncture sealing gel, but I have no experience of using it or how much it costs. The MG5 spacesaver looks like it might fit the MG3, so it might be an option. Storing it might be the issue as it might require a Fyfe Robertson Bracket and a false floor.

I think it's appropriate to say that in the event of a puncture, NEVER use the spare gel injected into the tyre.
If you do, you may have a chance of getting to the next auto..... centre, which will confirm that your gel-filled tyre needs changing.
The repairer could actually clean the gel from your repaired tyre, but they never do this because it takes too long and they prefer to sell one or two new tyres of the most expensive brand.

Moral: if this happens to you, do nothing, phone roadside assistance, wait 30 minutes and ask the breakdown mechanic to take your car to your MG dealer or an auto centre, who will be able to repair your punctured tyre this time.
