morning all.....has anyone had a similar issue , radio will work ok for days ,then for no reason sound will stop and needs to be reset using button on steering wheel ,sometimes this will cure the problem , other times it will keep doing this until the car is turned off .
have tried disconnecting the 12v battery and this works for a while but not always .
its booked in for diagnostics next week , but wondered if anyone had same problem and could offer advice .
car is 2023 zs ev and has been serviced and had updates to computer in January this year , has covered 6500 miles .
Love the car but this issue is starting to get on my nerves ....car can drive itself but not give us music

mine does it sometimes but most of the time the headunit decides of its own accord to switch to phone bluetooth and stops the radio. A swiped down and turn off bluetooth sorts it for mine (most times)

Happens to me too that I have to pres SCR button to get it going but it could be due to phone Bluetooth connecting, check your phone too...

When the info unit crashes, an easier way to reboot the unit ( rather than pulling over and shutting down the car completely or disconnecting the 12 volt battery ) try this the next time it happens, hold down the “Home?” button for about ten seconds, this will force and head unit to perform a reboot while you are still on the move.
When it reboots, it will likely throw up a couple of yellow warnings in the dash panel, just disregard them as they will clear themselves in a couple of seconds.
It is safer to get the passenger to hold down the home button of course, or be very careful yourself, as you will only have one hand free to control the steering of the car while doing this of course.
The original ZS EV ( Gen1 ) info screen would crash on a regular basis at different degrees of inconvenience.
Sometimes the black screen of death only, but radio still playing music, other times black screen of death and everything stops working.
When using the Sat nav, randomly the spoken directions would fail, but the screen was still active ???.
Software updates only helped, but never cured the problem completely.
The head unit in the ZS EV ( Gen2 ) is generally more stable, but still has its moments for sure !.
Again, software updates can help, but the bugs persist on having there own way on times.

Thankyou all for your suggestions , was indeed my phones bluetooth turning off sound as it does when a phone call comes in , but it was doing it without a call coming in , turning off bluetooth has resolved my problem . Unlike the youth of today I can live without my phone whilst driving , so happy to get a reliable radio again . Back in love with the car again , spoke to dealer to cancel diagnostics and let them know what the solution was in case any other owner has the same issue .

You dont need Bluetooth on the phone to take calls from the phone over the car. Just connect the phone with the USB cable as you would for navigation. I have used Android an Apple phones this way to take and make calls.

I too had the radio cutting out quite often. MG Dealer could not fix and blamed it in on the dashcam!
However Halfords where quick to see the problem. If the radio stations are not pre-set via the red heart. It goes into hunt mode upsetting the software.

Depends whether your radio is on DAB or FM and on signal strength where you live. DAB needs decent signal or it mutes the radio...(and hunts for another frequency)
Garages will need another year or two to start learning all the tricks on these cars, it's more software (with little tricks and fixes) than hardware knowledge ....

There's definitely a bug in the software mine does it most journeys with or without a phone connected. Sometimes it's a couple of minutes, sometimes over an hour. I spend hours in the car daily for work and it's very annoying. Won't buy mg again.

Is that on DAB or FM as well? It never happens to mine but I'm in London area so the signal is strong on any station...
