My daughter has just bought a 21 reg ZS, in very nice nick and she's v happy with it.

However she says the car keeps thinking there's people in the back when there isn't anything there, and shows the seatbelt warning light (doesn't give alarm though).

Is that correct or is there something she can adjust?

It's just the way the car is, unfortunately. One of the niggles. It doesn't have a sensor in the rear seats, so it's reminding you to check them, but does it in a way that suggests it knows that there is a passenger unbuckled there. It's just lazy software, it could be less confusing.

It is also easy to get caught out by placing heavy items ( shopping bags etc ) on one of the rear seats, which will trigger an alarm of no seat belt being worn.
Another one, is when a single person sits in the rear passengers, but plugs the seat belt into the incorrect middle belt receiver, as they are so close together.
This is a common occurrence in my car, as we have a baby seat fitted, which hampers with choosing the correct receiver.

The rear seatbelt warning light/sound can happen if there are a few items on the seat in my MK2, but more often than not for me this occurs when I have the seats folded down and the car fully loaded. At that point I can't really unpack it and shift things, so I suffer it until it quits - I don't always remember to plug the belts in to try and preempt it. It is so annoying.

I welcome any enlightenment as to a way to turn it off, even if just temporarily :D

I use the dog harness, which plugs in the normal seat belt clasp. Plug it in and the alarm stops.
