Hi All, been using my MG4 coming up towards 2 years now. Never had a problem charging until the last month or so.
I have an Easee charger. I simply set the charge schedule time on both the MG and also the Easee app. Always worked, but now it doesn’t. Tried loads of different configurations, with the Easee app, without the Easee app, but the car will now only charge at the point in time that I plug it in. Scheduling just doesn’t work at all. I’ve nailed it down to the MG app as I by passed the Easee app and tried with just the granny charger.

No idea why this fault has developed. If anyone has any thoughts on how to resolve, I’d be most grateful to hear them.

Thanks

Try removing any and all schedules from the iSmart app and the car, and try again?

Try doing a head unit reset in the car (press and hold the physical Home button for 10+ seconds) and try again?

I don't use scheduled charging so I'm only speculating, sorry.

Have you removed all schedules in the car and a on the app plus any set in the EVSE (charge point). You could try turning it of at the CU (fuse board)) and turn back on after ten minutes.
If you just use the car app does it work?

Thank you. I’ve done all of the above. I’m pretty sure it’s the car app as I have the same issue with the granny charger, so avoiding the Easee app altogether.

I may be wrong, but it seems to have happened after I did my first non domestic charge at a service station. Don’t think that could cause an issue?? Clutching at straws now

You could try disconnecting the 12V battery negative terminal for a few minutes to see if that resets anything.

As @Jomarkh said disconnect your Easee charger at the mains for a couple of minutes before reconnecting. I had a similar problem with my Zappi and switching it off and on again at the fuse box made it reboot properly.

Also only set a charging schedule on either the MG app or the Easee app but not both.

Thank you for the responses. I tried various combinations over the weekend, including disconnecting the main charger from the mains and reconnecting after a few mins. Regrettably none worked. Scheduling from the MG app seems to be the fault. It’s like it just charges as soon as it’s plugged in, regardless of how I try to schedule it at a later time.

My Trophy (nearly 2 years old) has always started charging as soon as it is plugged in regardless of schedules. I have a dumb wall unit so I can only set the schedule on the car or via the MG app. The only way I can get my car to follow the schedule is to plug it in, press the 'start charging' button on the main screen (battery/charge screen) and then, when it has started, press the 'stop charging' button, close the door and lock it. Then my car 99% of the time follows the schedule. No idea why it's like this. I'm going to mention it at my second service next month.

I always charge using the granny charger and the in car schedule charging using the BG EV tariff from 00:00 to 05:00 (not via the app) in the majority of the times, when I connect it the charging starts straight away instead of the schedule.

A bit annoying, so I have to go into the app and as you say, tell it to start and then finish charging. It then reverts to the scheduled time.

Another family member has an SE that does this exactly. It used to be ok on the schedule on either the app or set via the car.

by contrast my trophy is ok on either the app or car schedule.

Both cars are using the same 'dumb' rolec charger.

Thank you all for your responses to my issue of non charging. This forum has proved to be incredibly useful for me in the past and thanks to those who responded on this one.

I have finally resolved the issue, so I hope that my post is helpful to others in the future.

I couldn’t precisely pinpoint how it was resolved but 2 key actions seem to have made it work again.

1) I reset the breaker on the Easee charger. Not totally sure if this 100% sorted it.

2) Looking at other threads, I checked the clock in the car. It was reading as GMT, not BST. No idea how long this had been going for though, so when I was setting the charge time there was a disconnect between the app which would I presume take the time from the phone (?) and the car itself. I reset the car clock time to the correct time.

So, all sorted now and charging is working fine.

Why oh why the car decided to switch to GMT is just weird, but not unusual it would seem from other threads.

I hope this helps others who may face similar problems and thanks again to all who contributed.
