Hello good forum people.

This old fool has placed an order for a trophy which I've been told will be delivered end of January 2025. As this will be kept on my front drive and not in a garage I wondered if it would be sensible to have some sort of cover in case we get any extended inclement weather.

If this is thought a sensible idea do any of you have any experience with buying/using a cover and if so where from?

Many thanks in advance

I'm looking for a good quality car cap to cover the soft top while we are away for extended periods. Halfords do one but the reviews (and the price) indicate it is very lightweight.
Can anyone recommend one please?

Looks like the OP and I posted the same question at the same time. Maybe Mods can merge them please?

The first thing I would recommend is getting your roof properly waterproofed and kept protected while you keep the car. It is a do-it-yourself job and inexpensive.
I have just sold my CLK55 AMG Cabriolet which I had from 2003. The roof was re-protected every year and remains in excellent condition.

I always used Nikwax but there are many good products available.
If you are spraying it then make sure your bodywork is covered but it is easy to apply with a paintbrush.

Personally wouldn't touch an outdoor car cover with a barge pole. Unless your car has just been cleaned (and even then i wouldn't) you're gonna scratch it putting the cover on and off. It's inevitable. A car cap, for a soft top, might just be acceptable. IMO. 🙂👍

Thanks for this. Going to show my total ignorance since I've never had a soft top car. What do you mean by "car cap" please? TIA

Like the one on the BMW above. It'll just fit over you roof and windows. A tailored one for you Cyberster would be nice, if you can get one. Like I said, wouldn't bother, with a full car cover, pain in the Ass to put on and off, and will scratch your lovely new motor. But it's up to you.
Congrats on your new motor by the way.
What colour combo did you go for? I'll look forward to some pics when you get it. 🙂👍

I went for the Trophy, New English White with red roof and Red & Black interior.

I've been quoted end of January 2025 delivery. If it's a month or 2 later than that I shan't be too bothered to be honest.

I am told there is a set of mats included - I know there's been some discussion about mats. I'm part exchanging my MG4 I've had since March 2023. They offered me a "free" Type 2 cable which did make me chuckle - I managed to get them to knock the cost of that off the price and "only" paid a £3,300 deposit.

Never scratched any of mine in all of my cabrio ownership, but the quality of the cover and the care taken would have a significant impact

Stuart, I am curious, what kind of trade-in price did you get for your MG4?

So I took delivery of the MG4 Standard Range and had done 14,200 end of October this year and they offered me £13,000 - But I expect that will likely be less when I take delivery of the Cyberster next year (or it may be more but less likely since I'll have another 1,500 miles on it by then.
