I was wondering if MG ever decide to offer a software update at some point for the MG3 Hybrid would it have to be done at the dealership or could it be available in other ways ?

I was just on the MG website.

"MG are a proud member of The Motor Ombudsman accreditation scheme and are accredited to the CTSI-approved New Car, Vehicle Sales and Service & Repair Codes of Practice, ensuring we operate to the highest standards of service and offering peace of mind for customers."

I can't wait for that to start.

It might just be me being thick with the software, none of the videos I've watched so far have indicated problems, but then again they won't as it would kill the golden goose.

BUT

Two things.

Is it not beyond possibility that someone good with a video camera who knows it inside out and a decent understandable voice could do a nice easy going slow paced in focus close up video of all the aspects of the software side of it?

Is it not also possible that someone who writes software could connect up to a MG and tweak it so if you change something in settings and click okay it stays that way until you go back in and change it again and then upload it to anyone interested to update their own cars?

Now then where's that Realist bloke to shoot me down yet again

;) ;)

The Australian MG3 Hyrid recall is to load in the iSmart app compatibility, it seems they left the factory without it but this is a good thing in my opinion, as I don't want it and will opt out. It does not affect vehicle function or current in car systems. It is certainly not a safety related recall. The sceptic in me suspects this is a foot in the door towards monthly subscription payments to " keep you up to date".

Bear in mind the ISmart app is only to allow you to track the car, lock and unlock it as well as set the heating/ac, MG have already said they are not going down the monthly subscriptions route

I agree, it's a nice worthwhile app, but it's certainly not worth a subscription as it stands.

of course, hence why they aren't doing the subscription and they have already said at a dealer conference they will not go down that route
