Hi Guys,

First post here, thanks for having me! ?

We've got a a 2020 ZS EV that we've just purchased however it has the rather annoying trait of the radio turning on every time we get in the car at a really high volume, I think this is fixed in a software update?

As we're new to MG ownership I'm not sure how the updates work, I presume its a dealer job? Is there any charge for it? Do we know what the latest version number is that I'd ask for?

Bonus points if someone has a change log for what's fixed / improved in the latest version, please say it shows me charge percentage ?

Thanks
Jason

Hi Jason and welcome.
It sounds like you car has not received the "Comfort 2" update, which is a little surprising.
I was a very welcomed update that solved some of the issues on the car.
The loud radio volume on start up, being just one !.
Do you have the outside temperature displayed in the top right hand corner of the info ( radio ) unit and the remaining range displayed in the bottom corner of the dash board panel ?.
If not, you don't have the "Comfort 2" update applied to the car.
Some dealers will carry out the update FOC but MANY of them make you pay for the service.
The cost will fluctuate ........... but around £80 comes to mind.
Sorry to report, it will still not provide battery percentage.

Hi, thanks for the welcome ?

After doing a bit more research it seems like I do have the "Comfort 2" update, I do have the outside temperature in the top right of the info unit and the range displayed in the bottom corner of the dashboard display.

Is there a way to see version numbers to check everything has been updated as it should?

Thanks for the help and apologies for the mass of questions!

Owners are unable to see the version numbers sorry !.
I was a little surprised if it had not been done.
You will always find somebody who is willing to answer questions on this forum.

I've seen a few people mention running an update from 'Naviextras', I presume thats the method to update the navigation? Is there a guide on that somewhere? I've got the app now on the laptop but haven't seen how to connect from the laptop to the car.

There's a guide on the website but heed the warnings given by myself and others also.

Maybe the updates were not applied correctly, it's not uncommon unfortunately and can be a pain to get sorted out.
You'd need to take it to one of the few dealers that know what they are doing and tell them that the radio is doing the volume thing, hopefully they'll know it was fixed in one of the updates, they can then (with MG UKs permission!) re-update the software.

You need a compatible OBD2 dongle, and the unofficial app in this long topic:

Towards the end, I posted a patched version that adds another version and fixes some minor naming issues. I think it's very worthwhile finding out what versions you have, before and after a trip to the dealer. There are spreadsheets with what owner has what versions, etc.
