Posting this in case anyone with same issue I had is searching for a fix.
One day out of nowhere all buttons on my steering wheel stopped working. I tried powering car off and restarting several times, with no change. Car still driveable, with some but not all functions being available elsewhere (e.g. I could change to Sports mode on the center console but couldn't use the cruise control).
As mentioned elsewhere, there is not currently a software option to fully re-set the systems, so I disconnected the battery, left for a few minutes and reconnected. This did the trick. You get an avalanche of scary warnings about various systems not functioning (ABS etc), but a quick drive initialised everything and it's back to normal now with all steering wheel buttons working.
I will keep a 10mm spanner in the car from now on
[another post on this here with a different fix]
