I recently had replacement control modules replaced in the traction battery to rectify the “hv battery shutoff” fault. All has been well since the repair, bur twice now I have noticed a funny glitch in the charging pattern, which I don’t remember seeing before.

There is a spike in charging after the set charging time (00:30-05:30) and this morning the car started charging again at about 7:00. I stopped it using the app, but it shouldn’t have occurred. Any ideas?

isn't the charging start and stop time regulated by the charger? Mine is set to start midnight to 5 AM and sometimes it misbehaves and starts as soon as I plug the car in so I have to stop it and then it will start on schedule. As far as I know, the car won't control charging times unless you set it in the car infotainment system.

Do you have something like octopus igo.
That sets a schedule that can be outside the cheap rate but you still get the rate when charging

My charger is a non-smart 7 year old ChargeMaster unit, it is just on or off. I set my charging times in the app, which sends it to the car, I’ve never had a problem with this.

No, I can’t get IOG, as neither my car nor charger are compatible, I am on plain Octopus Go

Could the spike be because you have set the car up to start a planned battery heating.

If the car is plugged in and you start a heatup cycle, the car will draw current from the "charger".

Maybe unlikely seing as the spike is only very short though, but if you have it set to do battery preheat close to the time you leave the house it could look like what you are showing.

Sorry for the late reply, been out in the wilds

I checked the battery heating, that seemed very plausible, but I've never used it, and it isn't switched on, so not the cause.

While I was away I had the chance to leave the car on a 7kW charger until it finally balanced, which took well over two and a half hours once the car showed100%, so I'll see if that has made any difference when I next charge.
