Hi - welcome any suggestions here... I have a 2023 MG4 SE long range (it's red). I have an Ohme ePod on Octopus intelligent tariff. All has been working fine, then suddenly this week the car won't accept a charge (it's currently at 22%). There's no electrical supply issues and the charger seems fine, Ohme looked at logs which says the car appears to have gone into a faulted state called 'SuspendedEV'. There's no charging schedule enabled anywhere except the Ohme/Octopus link (which I also disabled to 'max charge' with no luck).

The car and charger both know they are connected, but Ohme shows 0.0kW rate and no clues in the car why it won't charge. Followed all the usual order of locking, unlocking etc.

The AA disconnected and reconnected the battery, then ran out of ideas. It's booked for repair but not for a month and is very frustrating. Has anyone had similar or any bright ideas?!

Thanks!

Does your car have a rear windscreen wiper and a central rear headrests? Because if it doesn't it's a phase 1 car, and these cars are prone to a known fault that requires replacement of the CCU. There's a big thread about it.

This fault affects all AC charging but cars will still DC charge.

Hi - yes it does have rear windscreen wiper and middle headrest

That makes it very unlikely that you have the CCU problem. So far, the only cars we know about that have developed that problem have been phase 1 cars with the 64 kWh battery, that is the SE LR and the Trophy LR. These cars have no rear wiper, which was added in the phase 2 cars.

They were also 3-phase CCUs ... cars with the rear wiper etc. only have single phase 6.6kW CCUs. As far as I can tell that was the common factor. ?‍♂️

@richf, it sounds as if you don't have much range left, so if the dealer won't look at the car for a month then you're a bit limited in what you can do. However, is there a DC charger reasonably near you? Near enough that you can get there and back (if necessary) on the range you have left? If so, it would be worth making the experiment of going there and trying a DC charge. If it works then at least you can get a charge and you'll be able to use the car using DC charging until the repair appointment. If it doesn't, then you know more about the problem, and you're not much worse off - you're still stuck at home with bugger-all range.

As @CharlesCarmichael said in his post you should try it with another AC charger. A local supermarket is likely to have one and if it is a pod point then you get minutes free at the start of charging and you can try it out on a number of chargers.

Thanks - yes I have enough charge to test locally and still get it to the dealer. I'll also ask someone to try their car on my charger to at least rule a few things out... appreciate the advice, I'll be back with an update (and any other suggestions still also welcome)

Hi everyone - thanks for your suggestions. I've now tested at another charge point and also direct to wall plug at our house, and it's working fine... When I plug into the Ohme the car shows 'Connecting' and nothing more happens...

Ohme haven't found any issues remotely, so unclear if a software or hardware issue.

Anyone had similar?

Thanks - I've tried a full reset and uninstall and reinstalling the app... the charging schedule is set and I'll leave it overnight to see...

The in car screen shows 'connecting...' but never seems to change, where it shows a charging screen on any other connection

I think (I’ll try to check later) that mine does that when plugged into the Zappi I have. Might just be for the initial communication though, I’m not certain.

Did you have any luck charging it this time?

Thanks- still no luck having left it plugged in all night. The car will charge with 3 pin plug which I've done for now, but no luck with the Ohme
