I was wondering what others have their A/C temperature set to.

I've always had Peugeots and their indicated temperatures were always withing several degrees of "comfortable" across cars. My RCZ is generally set to 19, my 308 was set to 22.5. However, I find that I'm setting my MG4 to 25 or 26. Now I might have become a warm-blooded Aussie since migrating here from The Netherlands, but I'm still surprised to be honest.

Does MG have a different opinion on what is comfortable, or is the temp setting just way more accurate and it's just me?

MGs temp settings are out by 4-5°

Worked quite reasonably for me around the 22deg mark with dealer updated module software and R40 as delivered 4 weeks ago and no change since doing the R59 update using the files on here ?

Perhaps I am being inefficient (hopefully someone can tell me?), but I usually set the air con with the fan at “2” or “3”, rather than on Auto. I find that a setting around 20 gives me sufficient warmth. If I do opt for Auto, I need something like 24 to get equivalent warmth.

You raise an interesting point there, I tend to set it to auto and if it’s blowing at a high rate I change the temp to slow it down. Probably not how it’s supposed to work, but it’ll be interesting to see what people reckon is more efficient.

Mine needs to be set to at least 26C to get any heat at all out, I use 27C and fan speed 5 or 6 then drop it back to 26C when the cabin has warmed up a bit.
I find the quickest way to get the heat flowing is to use the front demister for a few minutes then turn it off, leaving the above settings.

Same here. Mostly 2 or 3, T around 20-22, vents on the front window mostly.

We live in SE Queensland, so not much of a winter any more. AC set to 22 and fans at 3, turned up to 5/6 if I don’t think it’s quite getting there. Also used to run a Peugeot which needed its system re-gassing every year. Apparently they are known to get a tiny leak, which is buried under the dash. Cost more to fix than the car is worth. 😵‍💫

I only realised how bad Peugeots get when I got together with my now wife, and asked her why her Honda Jazz never has to go in for repairs 🥲

I've noticed that the AC, when set to auto, turns down the fan setting well before the cabin has cooled to the set temperature, which seems a little strange to me. I don't really care what temperature the air coming out is, I just care about the temperature in the car.

That must have been what happened to me in 2006. My Peugeot's AC stopped working in October, the week before I was due to move back to Scotland. I said, well, good timing, and forgot all about it. Fast forward to April 2007 and there was some lovely weather, and I remembered. The garage told me to forget it, it would cost more than the car was worth (car was new in 1998).

It was one of a string of reasons that led to the car being fed to a scrappage scheme that was in operation here in 2009. That and the passenger seat which had never been properly moored, and the water ingress over the driver's door and some other stuff I forget. And the leather driver's seat having worn through at one side.

Two things: the numbers shown are wrong: the are 3 degrees higher than what you actually want to select: there’s evidence of this in the original quick guide pdf document for the mg4, which has a screenshot of the temperature gauge showing 22 when half way between LO and HI, whereas now it shows 25

Second, it’s because the MG4 insists on directing air to the face vents when it has reached the desired temperature which pushes more cold air in the cabin. You must manually select windscreen+feet but keep everything else on AUTO. The AC consumes very little compared to the PTC heater and will keep your cabin dehumidified and warm in winter.

In windscreen mode the vents in the A style will blow cold air as well if the desired T is reached. And when this happens you may see condensation turning up on the lower side of the windscreen.
My conclusion is that this airco system works only in on or off mode. Even at +3 or +5 degrees. The only difference is that at these higher T's it takes more time to heat before it starts blowing cold air. And you can also stretch that time using eco mode (which is simply slower in heating).

I see you are in the Netherlands so your heating system is probably an air pump where as in the UK it's a PTC heating element.
